A SENIOR Israeli diplomat has warned that Israel is ready to launch a military offensive against Iran to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons.
In an interview with The Age, Dan Gillerman, who was Israel's permanent representative at the United Nations from 2003 until last September, said time for diplomatic efforts to stop Iran acquiring a nuclear capability might have already expired.
"The world cannot afford to live with a nuclear Iran," Mr Gillerman said. "I hope diplomacy will work, but I'm not sure we have the time for diplomacy to work.
"Israel has made it very clear that it will not live with a nuclear Iran and I believe that Israel has the ability and the capacity to make sure it will not happen."
Mr Gillerman, who will visit Australia later this month, said two clocks were running with respect to Iran: "There is the technological clock of Iran and there is the diplomatic clock, and I think the Iranian clock is running much faster."

Right.
They could have if they were willing to level Lebanon. And like Al Queda, Hezballah is not a state, but an organization dispersed amongst many nations, with Iran being one of their primary benefactors.
And it might not even be necessary for them to level Iran either. The political/citizen relationship in that country is not rock solid. Given the right set of events, Iran's people could very well revolt.
No guarantees though.
As for Israel and Iran; Iran's current government has stated time and again that they want to wipe Israel off the map. Rhetoric or not, it is not the kind of threat Israel is going to take lightly. If they feel they have no choice, they WILL strike.
That's not a bluff, that's national survival.

Because there is no way for 900,000 Iranians to attack Israel. Israel on the other hand can send 100 aircraft loaded with enough bombs to level Europe at Iran and they wouldn’t even know what happened.

I wish it were that easy, but all those places in the world that Iran DOES sell to? They will be on the world market buying any oil they can to replace their lost supplier.
We pay more either way. Oil is fungible, remove it from one place and buy it from another.
We will be hurt if Iran’s supply is removed from the world market.
Once Iran is annihilated, the US will have control of the World.
It is similar to the World after we dropped 2 Atomic Bombs on Japan. The US will control the World. No Nation will have the power to dispute anything the US wants to do.
No Nation will dare provide oil to any Nation but the US once Iran is destroyed by Nuclear Attack.
If Europe wants Oil then they will have to deal with the US.
Well that is something I know with certainty - Israel will not launch a preemptive strike against Iran with nukes.
Exactly, only the US could totally decimate Iran without resorting to nukes. Of course with Obama as president this means nukes will be used.

That'll depend if they think an Iranian nuclear missile strike is imminent. If they ever believe that, Iran disappears.

Uzzlims are only brave when their captives are bound hand & feet and surrounded by uzzlim terrorists who then cowardly pull their sword and do their favorite act of beheading. In an actual war, the uzzlims always turn tail and run at the first sign of danger. Most of the tanks that Israel captured from Egypt, Syria & Jordan in the 1967 war, had not even fired a single shell in attacking OR defending their ground.
