An amendment (PDF) to the stimulus package could have a bearing on the net neutrality bill currently under consideration by Congress.
California Democratic senator Dianne Feinstein introduced the amendment to the stimulus package currently being debated on Capitol Hill. The clause would allow internet service providers (ISPs) to carry out packet inspection under the guise of network management.

You have to control the ability for the population to communicate, else how are you going to take over the country.
Got your supply of lead yet? Better hurry.

US stimulus package offers hope to IT firms
*************************EXCERPT*************************
Companies praise new investment
Written by Shaun Nichols in San Francisco
vnunet.com, 11 Feb 2009
Some big names in the technology industry expressed new hope for investment on Tuesday when the US Senate approved an $838bn (£578bn) stimulus package.
The hotly debated package includes billions in planned spending on domestic energy and IT infrastructure policies which could bring money to the companies tasked with building those projects.

It’s a potential control mechanism....can’t have the population sending secret notes to each other....

So if you fart on the internet, they'll know it.
At some point, there's going to be trouble for these richer-than-most-of-us know-it-all political pinheads.

Just a quick question. When I access the Library of Congress (Thomas) site, and review this Stimulus Bill, what does the phrase “struck out” mean? Is this still part of the bill? or has it been removed?
Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but gotta ask...

Got your supply of lead yet? Unfortunately virtually all of my lead holdings are subdivided into small individual pieces. Normally this would not be a problem, however, since lead is a toxic substance, I have decided to have each individual piece attached to its own individual holder. I have found that brass makes a suitable holder for the lead bits. To further protect myself and my family from the toxic properties of lead I have decided that in addition to the brass holders, each of the lead bits should also be covered with copper. Unfortunately I didn't have quite enough copper so some of the lead bits a partially exposed. I do endeavor to take proper precautions to prevent lead contamination's.

Consider me one of those who believe in conspiracy theories, but should the Fairness Doctrine be passed, the only other place conservatives can go to hear unfiltered information, such as Rush or Hannity, would be the Web. I believe that this new law would control that too.

Anything going into the Library of congress will be “sanitized”>
I doubt that the inner workings of this bill will be found there for awhile.
To: yellowroses
“struck out” should mean removed or not agreed upon so struck out ...but doesn’t mean it can’t come back in a newer amendment. Watch the dims they are tricky.

INTERNET NERDS ARE ALWAYS ONE STEP AHEAD OF THESE CLOWNS.
Have been for years. They will come out with an encryption.
To: TheBlueMax
You got it, and the net will eventually be totally controlled,,, just like radio broadcasting for “fairness” as they use the Fairness Doctrine to stop dissent. The Bible said without the mark of the beast people will not be able to “buy or sell”, and that will include the net. do you remember Hillary saying that they needed more safeguards on the internet...this is what she was talking about. CONTROL FREAKS are what they are, and until we walk, talk and act like dems they will not be satisfied...they are the evil.

For those of us relatively unschooled in the niceties of Internet operations, just what, exactly, is a “packet inspection.” Anyone?
To: Tarpon
The whole purpose of this amendment is to specifically allow internet service providers the ability to scan for people downloading pirated music and video and thus remove any obstacles the RIAA would have to suing them for not doing so.
As we have seen in the past, suing an eleven year old for downloading music is a losing battle, but suing AT&T for allowing it to happen could be lucrative.
