Are you familiar with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute? They conducted a civics survey not too long ago:

American Civic LiteracyThat was fun. I scored 84% (and got the Gettysburg Address question wrong--I'm so embarrassed). You're right that the overall statistics are appalling, but it's not surprising. The liberals have been dumbing down the public schools for 40 years, and this week it paid off for them.
