WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate passage of an $838 billion stimulus bill triggered an intense round of late-night bargaining on Tuesday, with the White House and key congressional Democrats seeking agreement on a final compromise aimed at combatting the worst economic crisis in decades.

Still a terrifically lousy bill, but it looks like they are at least trying to appear to be twisting the Dems' arms in last-minute negoatiations.
What a load!
Why aren’t they demanding the health care stuff be cut out of the bill?
The Senate bill has 42% tax cuts already. The House bill has 1/3
I want them to demand tons of stuff including revoking ACORN funds.
It will be interesting to see if they can get 9% more directed toward tax cuts. They're still total traitors, but I'm watching to see just how much power they have over the Dems.
Have to keep rushing this piece of crap along before too many people wake up to what is going on.
B’roke Odooma has to keep the fear mongering express going.
rush this through hurry or we may nevr recover.....yeah sure.
Odooma also said there was absolutely NO pork in this stimulus. ODOOMA LIED! ODOOMA LIED! ODOOMA LIED!!!!
Lousey bill???? this bill is a piece of sh#t.
Health care has nothing to do with stimulus.
Actually only about 10% has anything that will help create any real meaningful jobs.
Just the fact that they have to rush this crap load through makes it completely suspect.
I saw those numbers on Glenn Becks show in Fox today.
I don’t like being a doom and gloomer, but this looks like doom and gloom to me.
And why aren’t they demanding that the abortion support and contraception crap be cut out of the bill?
Let alone, how this hits the elderly.
Correction: Democrats, who caused the crisis, seeking agreement on a final compromise aimed at accelerating the worst economic crisis in decades into full depression.
I see markets this week have reacted by the news of continually to go down...
What a load of crap. They are all on the same side, they can do whatever they want.
This is just media hype covering up their obvious free for all rape of the nations taxpayers.
we are being hit from all directions in this bill and that is a sad fact... and the healthcare part of the bill is not just elderly — it is ALL of us, it is their backdoor way of socializing our medical care. Heaven forbid you have a young child with an expensive disease, Obama’s board of 16 will decide if the governement will allow insurance to cover treatment or let that child die... oh and one of the Obama Lawyers is the lawyer who pushed to allow Schiavo to die.
NOT TOO LATE!! Keep calling, faxing and e-mailing until the bitter end. I read today that Specter was shocked at the response he’s getting from voters in PA about him sticking it to Americans. I think they are getting weak. (Specter has an election next yr.) We can at least know we went that extra mile to let them hear from all of us one more time!! LOL
National Republican Trust is getting ready to role out adds in their states before this is finalized. Let’s apply as much pressure as possible. Let them feel the pain of making a poor decision.

Right.
The bill viewed as a whole is the first salvo in this administration's declared war on the private sector. Obama was voted in largely because there is now a plurality of voters who depend on government, as compared to those whose bread is buttered in the private sphere. We have elected a person whose entire career has been dedicated to battling evil business, extracting favors from government.
Having never had a job outside of government, Obama doesn't understand what all the fuss is about. Ditto most congress critters.
