No surprises here Bruce Springsteen finally ended 2009s sales slump by moving 223,700 copies of his five-star Working on a Dream, good enough for Number One on the chart. Considering the bulk of those sales came before Bruces Super Bowl performance, Springsteen can probably expect even bigger numbers next week.
Bruce who?
I never liked him as a musician and a person...I am a musician, he just pretends to be!
“The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle” and “Born to Run”
2 great albums and not much else in the 35 years since:
People are sheep
The mostly dead “Beach Boys” could release a new album and people would snap it up.
LLS
Working on a Dream? Isn’t that a Tom Petty song?
‘Scuse me that was “Runnin down a Dream”, sorry.
And they all came from Wal-Mart. the same store Bruuuuce slurred last week.
You can say that again ; )
Why???!! That was just about the most sad and pathetic performance I have ever witnessed! If anything it would have told people 'Jeez, poor dumb bastard, his pipes are shot!'
(Born to Run was his last good album...after that his head got too big, the image makers tried to transform him into the all American just plain working Joe which disgusted me to no end- I preferred the Jersey street punk thing. But that's just me.)
This doesn’t mean anything. Old baby boomers are the only people still buying CDs, and they will buy anything Bruce puts out. This album is shockingly bad. I predict sales will plummet once word gets around how bad it is. It was thrown together quickly to take advantage of the Super Bowl show, and the tour tickets conveniently went on sale Monday (when have you ever seen a major artist start ticket sales on a Monday? It’s certainly the first time Springsteen has ever done that) to take advantage of the Super Bowl show. And the tickets are $100 - so much for the poor working man that Bruce loves to sing about. It’s all an extremely cynical marketing ploy by an artist who has more money than God already. I won’t be part of it.
For those of you who don't know who Bruce is, here is one of his officially licenced fan club T-Shirts:
“This album is shockingly bad”
Don’t tell us you dared to listen it????
“Working on a Dream”
Keep working on it Bruce.
Working on a socialist dream is more like it.
At least for the masses.
I am sure he keeps his mansions.
Bruce is the most overrated person in music. His songs are like some angst ridden 16 year old boy who took a poetry class.
