Gov. Ed Rendell will appear in federal court next Monday as a defense witness in the corruption trial of former Sen. Vince Fumo, D-Philadelphia.
Chuck Ardo, Rendell's press secretary, said that Rendell had been served with a subpoena earlier today at his Philadelphia office.
"The governor isn't sure what relevant information he may have, but he will honor the subpoena and answer any questions that are asked," Ardo said.
Fumo is charged with misusing more than $1 million in state resources and another $1 million from the Citizens' Alliance for Better Neighborhoods, a south Philadelphia charity he allegedly controlled, for his personal and political benefit.
Rendell had been on Fumo's list of potential witnesses for some time.

Amazing, they acknowledged the perps party in the story.
Fast Eddie as a character witness?
The guy is toast.
I could actually have forgiven them if they hadn’t. This is a Pennsylvania blog. There are not many people in Pennsylvania capable of reading who wouldn’t know the party affiliation of Rendell and Fumo.
LOL. If you know Vince Fumo (and I do), Fast Eddie may have been about the best he could do.
In Pennsylvania when the political crooks, of the demoncratic party, are mentioned in the msm their party affiliation is never identified. I think that slick eddie being called to testify for fumo is the funniest thing that I have heard today.
Wonder how much "stimulus" funding this ACORN-like fraud is scheduled to receive.

From the very first sentence, I will surmise this isn’t an AP story.
Here’s hoping Rendell will follow in the footsteps of Blago. We have one solitary Rupublican who got re-elected to statewide office last year and he is our attorney general.
Democrats=Culture of Corruption.
Puerto Rico Governor's Indictment: The Philadelphia Connection
Thank you.
Any connection to the Mayor Street corruption debacle?
(It has Chicago ties with Loop Enterprises a company fun by BO BIL Craig Robinson and friend, Jim Reynolds.)
Maybe calling Fast Eddie as a witness is a way to send a message to Eric and Barack, “call your Federal dogs off me, or I’ll embarrass the State and local Democrats”. Or maybe Fumo’s just looking for a commutation or pardon further downstream.
My new gov, I left Corzine in NJ, crooks are everywhere...hah!
Santorum was the best leader to come out of PA since the Revolution days. Considering how badly he lost I just cant find a tear to share for most PA voters.
It was the school issue (owned a residence in a fairly small school district; didn’t live in the small house, but had the district pay for the cyber home schooling for his kids) that did him in, and it was a stupid, shady thing for him to do.
Fast eddie is a saint in PA..(won’t stick to teflon)
and his wife being a judge kinda helps too.
