Also, from the article:

The House Republicans seemed to do just fine without Palin. Their list of speakers included Republican stars Michael Steele, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich.

Asked about Palin's no-show, House Republican leader John Boehner shrugged.

"Whatever," Boehner said.

What a response.

Boehner was right in his response.
Palin & Crist are working over the Senators trying to get this bill passed. I love her but that is shameful.

In her campaign she was famous for saying “Thanks but no thanks”. I wish she would stand by that attitude.

Congressional Republicans have abandoned the ship for the last 5 years, can you blame her? They vote correctly once, finally, and they want recognition. Please. They sold us down the river, along with Bush, and they have a long way to go to make it up.

more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.

Are we paying for this crap too, or maybe it comes under the new $93,000 they just voted for to pad their "expense accounts". (wink wink)

Most people out there are just worried about their jobs and mortgages and feeding their kids. These thieves can just add $93k a year to their expense accounts without even asking us if we needed an extra $93k a year.

I keep reminding my liberal friends that this is exactly how the democrat press treated Ronaldo Maximus for the years leading up to his victory in 1980. They couldn’t wait for the GOP to nominate him so they could humiliate the “cowboy” in the election. heh

Considering that they all pretty much treated her like sh*t, it’s a little difficult to blame her.

Not a huge deal, although she should have gone. It would have been a good morale booster.

I would need to know when they asked her, and when she was invited to the Alfalfa dinner, and what if anything happened in the meantime, to make a judgment. Also, it would be nice to know who the source is. Reporters in general and political hacks in particular are entirely too much in love with the unnamed source. Guys, if you want to be Perez Hilton, go be Perez Hilton.

Methinks that Palin is not the conservative that many think she is. I just don’t see her as pour presidential candidate in 2012.

I don’t believe Gov. Palin lied. I don’t think she would do that, she’s too moral. It must be some kind of misunderstanding.

Maybe she had committed to the Alfalfa dinner before she was asked to the Stupid Party retreat and she was too nice to tell them that?

Only ABCNBCCBSCNNMSNBCPBS would think this is news. I echo Boehner with a big fat, “Whatever.”

I don't think that at this point I'd attend an event hosted by the GOP either.
