Palin stiffs the House Republicans
ABC News - The Note ^ | 2009-01-31

Posted on 02/01/2009 11:48:02 AM PST by rabscuttle385

When House Republicans planned their annual winter retreat, they extended an invitation to Alaska Gov. Sara Palin, hoping the party's 2008 vice presidential nominee would give a morale-building speech to the more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.

Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason. According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.

So where is Palin this weekend? She's in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.

"She lied to us," said a Republican at the retreat.

unlike congress-critters, Mrs Palin is a governor in a state that could have an eruption from a volcano any day. obviously, she’s got her priorities straight.

meanwhile... how goes that winter freeze and lack of power some 200 miles west? last i heard, there are quite a number of freezing people without power. oh that’s right... they are mostly white... so i’m guessing they should just shut up and do what’s ‘right’ by freezing to death while the congress-critters fawn all over themselves in luxurious accommodations... all on the taxpayers tab (gee... i’m so glad i could put them in a nice place to schmooze and booze)

Actually she IS making a lot of friends around the country. If you are referring to political friends, they are not friends. AND, all she needs to do is have friends in the grass roots(us) not politicians. They already tried to screw her. It is us out here that make her or break her.

"considering the way she was treated by MANY in the party, can you blame her that much"

I thought the Republicans intended a move to the left and had no interest in Conservatives? I'm confused.

Bad move on her part if she has designs on a bigger role in the GOP.

She's already speaking at CPAC and attended the Republican Governors Conference back in December.

What more do you want her to do?

If she wants to run again on her own name then she should be making friends around the country.

That's the point. She doesn't want to be stained by the current party big wigs. She wants, rightfully, to retain an outsider reputation. Let the rank-and-file judge her if/once she runs and then how she does in the primaries.

Ah yes, unnamed sources within a liberal media story designed to split Republicans again.

Looks that way to me.

She’s lobbying for funds from the stimulus package

Only for the infrastructure-related part.

Since when has “politely declined” meant “stiff”? ABC should know all about what is stiff and what is not.

I think this is more a PR stunt for a poorly attended retreat.

Whining is beneath the GOP.

If they REALLY want her then they should host a dinner for her PAC and cut the BS PR stunt for the media. (probably rinos inside the GOP. perhaps foley’s ex-staffers)

Boehber is a horse’s ass. My neighbor for many years. Rephrase that .. I lived 6 houses down from him, he was NEVER a neighbor. An empty suit .. A Xavier grad with one purpose upon graduation .. to be career politician.

Quite frankly he talks a good talk, particularly around reelection time, but folds when it comes to the rubber hitting the road. He couldm’t lead a 3 year old to the crapper.

More Power to Governor Palin .. those same stinking RINO’s want nothing to do with her.

Republican stars Michael Steele, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich.
Only star I see is Steele.

To be a star today you need to be black and somebody people know nothing about.

The problem is they ARE Republicans.
It’s the Conservative part that comes into question.

Said it before and will say it again...the first instant I see a valid and legal campaign organization that I can donate to for her presidency run by credit card, I'll begin the regular payments, just like Obama's constituency. It'll be in the budget like gas, electric, water and telephone and at least equal to the total of all of them. Don't care if it's illegal, don't care if it's recorded. I'll donate under different names address, etc. if I have to....

As for her trustworthiness over ABCnews or other elected Republican officials - I'll go for her.

She explained this in a interview she gave in Alaska last week. She gets hundreds of invitations to speak. She is the governor of Alaska. She is only accepting those that promote Alaska’s business.

She also said the $11M book deal was poppycock.

Then she offered to give the reporters a ride to the Alaska State Capitol.

Don’t buy the MSM attempts to smear her. They are relentless. And wrong.
