When House Republicans planned their annual winter retreat, they extended an invitation to Alaska Gov. Sara Palin, hoping the party's 2008 vice presidential nominee would give a morale-building speech to the more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.
Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason. According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.
So where is Palin this weekend? She's in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.
"She lied to us," said a Republican at the retreat.

SARAH BARRACUDA sez: “Im no ones cheerleader.” LOL!!
Cheerleader and comedian.
I agree with everything you have said in this post.
And I’m not a Rino.
Seems there’s a lot of name-tagging going on. Are we in a circular fire mode here?
Steele is the man. We can’t change that. I say we support him until we have reason not to in his capacity as the Chairman of the RNC. You and I aren’t going to remain quiet if he starts playing the part of a RINO in this position.
I may disagree stridently with his stance on some issues if I understand things correctly. If he starts basing his RNC leadership on those views, I’ll ripe him mercilessly. I know you’ll join me.
You take care.
The Republican retreat was at the Homestead-—4 to 5 hours to DC. That’s as far a drive as New York City is from DC up Interstate 95. Considering she was only in DC from Friday night until 6:30 Sunday morning (so as not to minimize loss of time in Juneau during the legislative session), and Saturday was completely booked up with meetings with her DC staff, the CSIS lunch, and the Alfalfa dinner, where would she have found the 12 or so hours to get to the Homestead?
I agree with you!!
You'll have to pry the MSM's lips off Bronco Bomber's ass before you'll be able to move it to the top of the list.
From ABC News? I think not.
Look for a poison pen at work here.
You do know, don't you, that ABC News and CNN are ground zero for a foursome of back-channel, high-volume communicators who are apparently PR'ing the Obama agenda? They are:
There is a serious conflict of interest going on here with these guys doing politics on CNN's and ABC's time via back channels to the White House and Mephistopheles Central. These guys are not working as journalists, they're functioning as the neural plexus of the Obama political spin machine.

Hmmm, troll zot?
Thanks for playing.

Yep I know where the retreat was held. About 200 miles southwest of DC, but I guess any old excuse will do when one chooses to ignore the new RNC Chairman and a large gathering of elected officials.
Yep state business called or so the excuse goes but I really doubt the legislature was meeting on Sunday. A hour or two with the retreat gathering and then back on a plane from down in the area where the retreat was being held and she’d have been back in AK early Monday. At some point she’ll be happy to meet with these folks if she makes another attempt at a national ticket.
Do you really think she would have driven?
“I dont believe Gov. Palin lied. I dont think she would do that, shes too moral.”
She’s still a politician.
Since when is exposing someone’s lie a “smear”?
"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.
I see that we're being eaten alive. My point is that once an appropriation battle is lost in Washington the front in the war of fiscal conservatism moves to a more local level. Saying public money should have never been spent does not relive one of the responsibility to fight for it being spent in the most prudent manner possible.
