Judge Says Citizens Need To Buy Guns To Protect Themselves

We've got one or two here that do as well.

Several years ago, my neighbor's daughter was in the process of divorcing her husband and moved home with her parents. She just wanted away from the guy, and he just knew it was because she was involved with his stepbrother. (She is now, but that's a different story)

Anyhoo, the husband (ex-marine btw) waited until the parents were gone on his weekend to have the kids, made threatening phone calls to her and decided he use her kids to get her to open the doors so he could come in and beat the crap out of the stepbrother. This neighbor is also a hunter and had many guns that were in the house at the time.

Husband kicks the door out of her hand after she let the kids in, and proceeds to knock her down the basement stairs to get to the step-bro. The step-bro was laying in wait with a hatchet and knocked the cowboy hell out of the husband in the head to keep from getting his butt kicked. Here comes the law....46 minutes after her father called for them while in Atlanta. She had tried to call and couldn't get through.

When this went to court, the parents had already dropped the breaking & entering charge, the wife had a 2 year restraining order in effect, also filed assault charges and the step-bro had filed assault charges. The husband had also filed assault charges against the step-bro.

The judge flat out told the husband that he was very lucky he hadn't tried that with his daughter. He looked right at the husband, pointed his finger and said “BOOM”. I almost laughed out loud....it was priceless.

The husband wound up on probation for 1 year, the wife got her divorce and the kids, the step-bro got the girl and a new baby, and everyone is just happy as clams now.

pardon me, but i'm NOT from the windy city & i'd bet i could fly there, walk the street for an hour (in certain neighborhoods) or so & buy any number of handguns (and maybe fully automatic weapons!) OR illegal drugs OR stolen property OR most anything else UNLAWFUL, that you might want to buy for CASH.

you need NOT leave Chicago to buy a pistol - they are EVERYWHERE.

only law-abiding people have to "jump through hoops" to get a firearm. the crooks have LOTS.

PLEASE don't be "sucked in" by the intentional LIES told daily by the main-SLIME, gun-HATING, LEFTIST media. the media KNOWS that they're lying;they think "the public" is terminally STUPID.

To a certain extent, yes,

but I do have an objection to _requiring_ gun ownership,
as I have a problem with requiring a lot of things.

The thing with firearms, though, is that you don’t have to have everyone armed for the deterrent to be effective.

Just enough ownership so that a criminal knows he’s risking his a$$ when committing a crime against anyone.

I think too many of you are starting to get on the case of the judge about this statement:

“There should be a law that law abiding citizens with no felony convictions should own a gun,”

I agree.

I think what he is means is that he sarcastically believes there should be a law that makes it illegal for a law abiding citizen to NOT have a gun.

I disagree that he is being sarcastic. There are places in the US that make it mandatory to own a firearm. He seems to say that he thinks it should similarly be a requirement.

Also, Virgin, Utah(^) requires firearm ownership.

I am nearly positive that there are a handful of other places that require firearms ownership, but those are the two I know by name right off the bat.
