The mother who gave birth to octuplets - giving her a grand total of 14 children - has said her babies are 'miraculous'. But as more details emerged...neighbours raised questions over whether her children will have a father in their lives at all.
The woman's mother...confirmed the octuplets were indeed the result of fertility treatment - and...had had the opportunity to abort one or more...but turned it down.
It was also revealed that the woman's father - a contractor - may be forced to return to work in Iraq to help support his 14 grandchildren.
Cramped: This two or three bedroom bungalow
in Whittier, California home to the woman who gave birth
to octuplets this week
Residents....where the unidentified mother lives said they have never seen the woman who they said looks to be Hispanic - with anyone who looked like a boyfriend or husband.
A neighbour...said: 'I dont think she is married or has a partner."
Concerns...also raised over the family's home...
But the babies' grandfather said the family have a far larger house elsewhere....
'We have a huge house, not here....'You are never going to know where it is.'
...The mother of the octuplets is believed to be 33.

Does it not bother anyone that WE are the ones killing our citizens(in the womb) on a daily basis....and they're not.
True. I think we will have to wait for more information to be given. Although honestly I hope that they don’t give anymore as really it is not anybodies business including mine who is on this tread as much as anyone...lol.
The nastiness directed against this woman is appalling.
I question the motives of the mother of these babies, and I question the motives of her doctor. I'm glad that she chose not to abort these babies, but she certainly shouldn't be celebrated for it when they should never have been conceived in the first place.
Mother unmarried. Lives with parents. ALL her pregnancies the result of fertility treatments.
There is no "Dad." It's GRANDPA who is the military contractor.
And for anyone who thinks government money didn't pay for any of this, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you. Sheesh.
Perhaps perhaps perhaps. So, just for the record, if it comes out that they DO NOT have the funds to support these kids, are you still all for a woman being implanted with 8 embryos when she already has 6 young kids? And, do you care if there is a father for the kids, if there’s not? I hope I’m wrong and she has plenty of money to cover the hospital bill (and the likely ongoing medical bills, since these kids will almost assuredly have fairly expensive medical issues) and the amount it will cost to raise them. In addition I hope there IS a father in the picture who will help her with them.
A few facts are known. She underwent fertility treatment, including IVF, and according to her mother, they implanted 8 embryos. She is in her 30’s and already has 6 kids.
I assume the ethics board of Kaiser Permanente will be looking into the case.
No one here suggested reducing embryos in this mother’s case. And yet, you leaped right to that. She should never have produced and then been implanted with 8 embryos.
No, she wasn’t trying to sell her eggs. The woman’s mother stated that her daughter had embryos implanted last year and they ALL took - all EIGHT.
Shhh, you can’t say that. It makes you seem mean to some other posters!
I hope your joking. If not, they need to load that whole family up in a boat and push it out to sea.
This article seems to imply that it is the GRANDFATHER who is/was a contractor in Iraq.
Why is an unmarried women popping fertility drugs like candy?....
Just wondering here.
Is there an Ellen mixed in with this story anywhere?
Palin is 1. white. 2. Republican. 3. Christian. Therefore, she is condemned for having five kids. The Duggar family, also white and Christian, are ridiculed for having so many kids.
But it would be "racist" and "insensitive" to object when nonwhite women, especially nonwhite women on welfare, have tons of kids.
Wait until even more of the story comes out; I live in Whittier and it's burning up talkradio out here so I'll update on the threads.
To borrow from Martha Stewart, it's NOT "a good thing."
i also heard she has some sort of mental issue/defect. is that the case? it was in an atricle yesterday.
