'My eight miracle babies': Mother of octuplets reveals her joy ... but there's no sign of the father

The mother who gave birth to octuplets - giving her a grand total of 14 children - has said her babies are 'miraculous'. But as more details emerged...neighbours raised questions over whether her children will have a father in their lives at all.

The woman's mother...confirmed the octuplets were indeed the result of fertility treatment - and...had had the opportunity to abort one or more...but turned it down.

It was also revealed that the woman's father - a contractor - may be forced to return to work in Iraq to help support his 14 grandchildren.

Cramped: This two or three bedroom bungalow
in Whittier, California home to the woman who gave birth
to octuplets this week

Residents....where the unidentified mother lives said they have never seen the woman – who they said looks to be Hispanic - with anyone who looked like a boyfriend or husband.

A neighbour...said: 'I don’t think she is married or has a partner."

Concerns...also raised over the family's home...

But the babies' grandfather said the family have a far larger house elsewhere....

'We have a huge house, not here....'You are never going to know where it is.'

...The mother of the octuplets is believed to be 33.

Now I’m confused. I thought what you do (father of children was a contractor in Iraq) but this article says HER father is a contractor in Iraq.

I really am having a difficult time getting my mind around someone wanting fertility treatments because they only have 6 children. I am all for people who say they will take as many as God gives them, but this sounds more like as many as the Dr. will give them.

When these 14 kids start paying into your Social Security, I hope you’ll remember to write a thank-you note.

And you should probably tell the last 8 that you didn’t really begrudge them their life, even if it sounded that way.

Mrs Suleman said her daughter had embryos implanted last year, and 'they all happened to take'.

If this article has the facts correct, then this woman had in vitro fertilization, not merely drug treatment.

This raises the questions:

What doctor would agree to perform this proceedure on a single woman with 6 (six) children under the age of 8 including 2 year old twins?

Isn't this medical malpractice?

Who paid for the proceedure?

The doctor involved should be identified and banned from practicing medicine. And the woman involved is clearly an unfit mother to seek out invitro when she already has 6 children to care for (without a husband,) so the children should be removed and put up for adoption.

Not to sound racist, but didn’t I read somewhere that there is one race of people on this earth who are trying to out produce all over races?

Because they are nosey pieces of sh!t. They are probably pissed that she decided not to abort some of them and demand a reason. The media is continuing to destroy families by their constant attacks. She is 33 years old. Her father is helping the Iraqi’s. She made the decision to have 8 children through Invitro so some other way. That is more than we need to know IMHO.

Honestly, people. This article, which is published despite seeming to know almost nothing for sure, is no basis for conclusions of any kind.

Why, are they going to write us thank you notes as taxpayers for the funds we will spend on them? Thinking women should not be getting pregnant (INTENTIONALLY) with more kids than they can support, especially when they don’t appear to have a father/husband in the picture is not the same as supporting abortion. Are you suggesting that not getting pregnant with every egg a woman produces is the same as abortion?

I did not see anywhere in the article that she is receiving assistance except for the fact that she will definitely have a huge tax break on her annual taxes.

Agree. It’s verging on hysteria.

Future democrat voters, and potential tenants of gov’t subsidized housing.

There is a family currently who are pregnant with number 18. I seem to remember praise and joy on this site for that family. Why not this family???? There is no evidence that either family has taken public assistance.

That's not nearly enough punishment for having 14 children.

Please make sure the mother spends some time in prison too, and most importantly, make sure those gosh-darned kids are placed as far apart geographically as possible, so they don't grow up knowing their parents OR their brothers and sisters.

That should serve as a warning to the rest of the breeders out there.

Angela Suleman said her daughter expects a big challenge raising 14 children, especially with the husband expected to return to Iraq.

She's got a husband, the husband is employed, she can have any many kids as she wants.

Agree, some people on here were very supportive of Palin having 5 children, I have 5 children, never asked the taxpayer for a thing. 14, 20 kids, fine by me if family supports them.

Where are you getting your information???? It seems somebody is either in Iraq or going to Iraq to support the children. The contractor can easily make six figures in Iraq. You are making huge assumptions. They have another home somewhere. Perhaps they are rich. Bottom line is we don’t know.

The bigger house that the grandfather has said they are moving to, may very well be in another country.
Many of the comments on this thread are way out of line considering we have so little information to go on.

What in the heck are you talking about?

Are you confusing eggs with actual EMBRYOS? Because that's what we're talking about here.

Suleman sound much more Muslim, than Hispanic.

Doing a google on Suleman turns up a lot of Muslims with that name, particularly Pakistanis.
