“But I want a principled conservative. Not a “relatively” conservative. “

This attitude is exactly what lead to the Dems taking over Congress in 2006, Obama’s election and the Dems consolidation of power in 2008. You and others like you weren’t willing to accept anything but “pure” conservatives, are more interested in defeating Republicans, than defeating Democrats. Result: what we have today.

I hope now you are happy with Obama and the far left Dems ruling the country.

>> I hope now you are happy with Obama and the far left Dems ruling the country.

This is nothing but the usual nonsense from the “anyone with an R by their name is GOOOOOOD...”

I voted for (and contributed to) McCain/Palin. I voted for (and contributed to) Cornyn. In other words, although they (especially McCain) were not everything I wanted, they were most certainly the “lesser of the two evils”.

But guess what? Now the election is over. I got what I got not because of, but in spite of, my principles.

“Conservatism lite” is not what this country needs. I am not afraid to say so. You RINO weenies can hurl all the ridiculous insults you want — you won’t intimidate me because I’m convinced your full of crap. Your position that “we ought to just all get along” and accept whatever left turn the sacred Republicans drag us down would be silly if it weren’t downright dangerous to this country.

So tell me, RINO: will I be happier in the NEXT election cycle if an (R) wins — and it turns out they govern exactly like a (D)? Where’s the victory in that? Yet if we follow your “ratchet your expectations down” guidance, that is exactly where we’ll be. No thank you!

Nonsense. McCain was about as far from a “pure” conservative as you can get (apart from Giuliani) and how did he fare?

It’s actually the exact opposite. If some principled conservatives would run, then the “base” would be energized as we haven’t seen in a long time.

Run candidates who are pro-abortion, pro-homosexual “rights”, pro-global warming and whatever other “moderate” attributes you want, and you will be shocked at the huge loss that will ensue.

Republicans winning elections have two enemies - Dems and their assistants called the MSM, and “moderate” Republicans, aka the RNC.

... and oh by the way, this is NOT correct.

The Dems took over congress in 2006 not because of petulant rock-ribbed conservatives, as you insinuate...

but rather because the (R) component in Congress were notoriously corrupt spendthrifts, adrift from their conservative principles and promises.

I realize it’s attractive to blame the (R) massacre on guys like me. That way you don’t have to grapple with the unpleasant fact that the (R)s in Washington, just like the (D)s, are not public servants, but rather, featherbedding professional grifters.

But I offer you this warning: if you don’t wake up and face reality, nothing good will come of it. You’ll get one of two things: a solid (D) majority, or an (R) majority where the office holders might as well be (D)s.

I don’t care to experience either of those two things. Hence I’ll remain a staunch CONSERVATIVE and if the Republican party wants to leave me, then so be it. The party can rot in hell for all I care.

Sorry, we have a whole GOP that is “conservative lite” because of folks like you encouraging people to vote the party-line to keep the seat, instead of voting for character, integrity, and leaders. The GOP didn't get this way other than through voting these idiots into office. The RNC won't even allow a true conservative republican to run for office anymore. Look at what they did to Sarah Palin after the election. Those campaign crowds weren't there for McCain I promise you that.

They don't know what to do with folks who would lead like Sarah. Why? Because they have the guts to do the right thing, even if it is the hard thing. They tell the truth, even if it means it is something you really don't want to hear. This is the leadership we need right now and we didn't get and we wouldn't have gotten even under McCain.

Don't you see, you are pointing the finger at ‘conservatives,’ when it is voters like you who have delivered us to the current weak, corrupt, lame, lying, cheats we call our Congressional RNC.

Yes, my expectations are very high for candidates in 2010. And I refuse to act like a liberal and lower those expectations to fill Voinovich’s seat. I will support the best candidate, but if the corrupt Ohio RNC can't put a Republican on the ticket or one that is less of a RINO than Voinovich I might as well vote blue dog democrat or not at all. And if we end up with a socialist in another seat in congress, don't you dare blame me. Blame your RNC/GOP lite party.
