Texas Sen. Cornyn challenges Obama agenda
Houston Chronicle ^ | Jan. 23, 2009 | STEWARD POWELL and GARY MARTIN

Texas Sen. John Cornyn is leading an early charge against President Barack Obama, seeking to blunt the new administration's momentum in Congress while lighting the way for a GOP comeback in the next election.

"I think he has decided that the only chance Republicans have is to be very aggressive," political scientist Larry Sabato said of the Texan, who come to Washington six years ago as a defender of President George W. Bush.

Cornyn said the campaign committee role makes him a key player in the Senate GOP leadership as well as the architect of the party’s Senate campaign in 2010.

Do you know what a “false dichotomy” is?

Do you know what REALITY is and CONSEQUENCES of one’s actions are?

You do realize that your debate has run out of gas and you’re just hurling insults and truisms... don’t you?

I mean, how am I supposed to answer that? “Uh, gee, FocusNexus, I have no idea what reality and consequences are! You win! BRILLIANT!” :-)

I think we should just call it a night and agree to disagree, then.

Unfortunately, this article writes of a political pipe dream as that there very few patriotic conservatives left roaming the hall of Congress. Spineless RINO's are the status quo for what we once referred to as the Republican Party.

We should all realize the glitter that has been added since last November to the Capitol Hill Dog and Pony Show.

I would venture to say 85% of the Congress critters are only concerned with image, re-election and stuffing their re-election war chests with money from lobbyists.

Thank you Sen. John Cornyn. There should be dozens of your colleagues doing the same.

Cornyn, Sessions, and Demint appear to be the only ones with a fighting spirit.

They need to hammer him. Obama has swung far to the left just in week one. This is not what he ran on.

If he said on the stump: “In week one, I will close Gitmo, Grant rights to terrorist, use taxpayer dollars to fund abortion clinics across the globe, appoint a tax cheat to head the IRS, propose $850 billion in spending.”

He would have been crushed.

But no, he ran on centrist conservative values. This country is still right center and the Dems know it.

Obama has proved to be a socialist. All the goodwill of bipartisan talk and centrist appointments is gone after this week.

All True Republicans and Conservatives should fight Obama on all Fronts

Oh great. now You are going to designate who is a "true Republican" and who is a "true Conservative"... please give it a break YOU are the type of person who has fractured the base.

ALL Conservatives are "True Conservatives" as they vote their values and morals... are you going to dig in their minds and figure out their beliefs? Because just like with any other group it can mean slightly different things ALTHOUGH the core Values that you present and LIVE by is what defines you!

You have various types of Conservatism... Religious Conservatives, Social Conservatives and like me Constitutional Conservatives, the list goes on... So tell me which is the "True Conservative"?

What has destroyed the Republican party is not Conservatism... because there is little of that left in the GOP, What has crippled the GOP is the complete lack of morals both the politicians and the GOP voter (moderates) who want to "go along to get along" with the "Give Generation" instead of pushing "Conservative" Values and Morals...

So in other words stop trying to blame conservatives for the GOP losses that are taking place, Conservatives DO NOT OWE the GOP its support or votes when the GOP does nothing but spit in the faces of Conservatives, shake their hands on one side and stick a knife in the back with the other!!!

End Rant...

Sorry, we have a whole GOP that is “conservative lite” because of folks like you encouraging people to vote the party-line to keep the seat, instead of voting for character, integrity, and leaders. The GOP didn't get this way other than through voting these idiots into office. The RNC won't even allow a true conservative republican to run for office anymore. Look at what they did to Sarah Palin after the election. Those campaign crowds weren't there for McCain I promise you that.

They don't know what to do with folks who would lead like Sarah. Why? Because they have the guts to do the right thing, even if it is the hard thing. They tell the truth, even if it means it is something you really don't want to hear. This is the leadership we need right now and we didn't get and we wouldn't have gotten even under McCain.

Don't you see, you are pointing the finger at ‘conservatives,’ when it is voters like you who have delivered us to the current weak, corrupt, lame, lying, cheats we call our Congressional RNC.

Yes, my expectations are very high for candidates in 2010. And I refuse to act like a liberal and lower those expectations to fill Voinovich’s seat. I will support the best candidate, but if the corrupt Ohio RNC can't put a Republican on the ticket or one that is less of a RINO than Voinovich I might as well vote blue dog democrat or not at all. And if we end up with a socialist in another seat in congress, don't you dare blame me. Blame your RNC/GOP lite party.

...That would be the “Give Me Generation”

And this goes out to not only the poster but to all the other FR posters out there trying to lay the blame on Conservatives for YOUR party’s losses over the past years, we did just fine with Reagan Conservatism because it included ALL Conservatives... if the GOP wants it back... Earn IT..

End Rant(sequel two)

“All True Republicans and Conservatives should fight Obama on all Fronts. Let the Economy spiral into Depression, let America’s Foreign Policy fail, let the Terrorists attack. Once the disaster Obama has brought is apparent to all, then the American populace will recognize the Commie Democrats for the fraudulent failure they are.”

Could not agree with you more!! I’m with Limbaugh in hoping Obama is a huge failure.

The message that the American people are sending us now is that they want us to work together and get to work.”

Oh really McCain. The message I am hearing is that people want you to STOP spending money like a bunch of drunken sailors.
