“Mission Accomplished” was an apropos banner, intended to boost morale of the faithful. It wasn’t meant to summarize the battle against terror or the stabilization of Iraq. But the press, the fourth estate, behaved as a fifth column. They twisted the phrase out of context, ignoring President Bush’s many expressions of warning that defeating terrorism would take years. Once they had redefined the context, they plunged it like a knife again and again into the presidency, and into the cause of freedom.

I am in full contempt of the press. With Bush, they selected the bad and omitted the good.

They have what they think they want now, and will defend the new order with all the selectivity and omission of truth that they practice so well, but this time they will be selecting the good and omitting the bad. And the bad, I’m afraid, will be monumental in the grand scheme of things.
