I assure you, mormons teach that "Even as man now is, God once was, even as god now is, man may be". They teach that the "gods" made the earth, and that Christ and Satan were brothers. It is right in their scriptures.

As far as the hippy preacher, I think he was just using that 60's lingo, and calling "GOD" man.
