What is the difference between commuted and pardoned?

(Obama is not my president until we see his birth certificate. A real one.)

Commuted is sort of like parole....You still have the conviction on your record, but your sentence is terminated.
Pardoned erases the conviction from your record, your voting rights are restored (I believe), and is like it never happened.

(As of 1/20/09, I have no President. I just pray in four years I still have a country.)

Not sure, but I think commutation means they get out of jail but their conviction stands. A pardon would cleanse their records as well.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks.

(Sarah Palin has run a fishing business, a city, and a state. All Obama has done is run his mouth.)
