A Year in the Life of President Bush (a lot of photos): Part 3 (July - September 2008)
www.whitehouse.gov/news www.yahoo.com/news | 17th January 2008 | Snugs

Posted on 01/17/2009 8:59:21 PM PST by snugs

This is the third part of the 2008 review and as was true for parts one and two the following photos may not necessarily be the best photos or the most important but they are chosen because they appeal to me and hopefully to you as well. It maybe because of the content, the expression on the face(s) or just an unusual photo.

As I explained there are so many photos I have split this thread into 4 the first one being January - March, the second April - June and this one the the third one July - September, the fourth final one will be October - December 2008 which will be posted Sunday afternoon/evening eastern time.

As with the normal Day in the Life Thread I would request that photos are not posted until the all clear so that we have a chronology series of photos.

Enjoy your bonus visit to Sanity Island

Since 2005 alone, a little over 30,000 Burmese have moved to the United States to find a home and escape the dire conditions. White House photo by Shealah Craighead

Her Aug. 7, 2008 visit to the camp, which houses at least 39,000 Burmese refugees, highlighted the plight of a people who have struggled since the Aug. 8, 1988 crackdown that created dire conditions in their country 20 years ago. Many have moved to the United States or other countries such as Canada, New Zealand or the Netherlands. Mrs. Bush encouraged other countries to help the Burmese as well. Mrs. Laura Bush watches as a student works at the chalkboard during a grammar class Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at the Mae La Refugee Camp in Mae Sot, Thailand. The exercise uses the sentence, "My life in refugee is better than Burma but I don't have opportunity to go outside of my camp" to discuss compound sentence structure. The visit to the camp highlighted the fact that it has been 20 years since the crackdown in Burma that sent many people fleeing dire conditions. Many residents have been born in one of the nine camps along the border or have lived most of their lives there. White House photo by Shealah Craighead
