Will Smith 'to play' Barack Obama as US President in Hollywood movie

Smith has staked his claim to play the role, even before Barack Obama has been inaugurated as president.
Speaking at the premiere of his new film Seven Pounds at the Empire, Leicester Square, in London, Smith laughed about reports that the US President-elect had indicated that he would like the actor to play him if his life story were ever to be made into a movie.

I looked to see if this was the Onion...but apparently not. Shouldn’t they at least wait until he has actually DONE something? Something other than write 2 books about himself that is.

Will Smith has entered Jim Carrey and Tom Hanks territory, turning his back on roles and films that drew people to him in the first place and is now just a name above the title that’s supposed to be money in the bank - the film’s content is secondary to its event status and in this case its obvious sycophancy.

Though Obama’s not short on hubris, this isn’t an example. If you’re the nominee of a major party for president, you can certainly expect that someone might play you in a movie someday.
