re: To remove God from the public square is to adopt Atheism as the official government religion in violation of the First Amendment.

It hasn’t always been that way. When I was a kid you never heard from an atheist, or when you did it was only a murmur. It’s relatively recent phenomena that atheists want their lack of belief in God to be a religion in and of itself.

Free Republic has a number of CONSERVATIVE, PRO LIFE posters.

I think that we should pray for their salvation, and not broad brush them.

Isn’t there some law that Newdow is violating that can send him to prison for a very long time?

I have often wondered if he was molesting his own daughter, whom he filed a similar lawsuit over her going to school.

I would agree. I have never met a person who claimed to be an atheist that wasn't in fact just angry at God. Although most are hard pressed to admit it.

I don't know too many atheists, but this has been my experience with the one I know very well, my Dad.

It was very difficult dealing with him and hearing his anger, but God revealed to me that within such anger is really a profound faith.

Why ? Because you are not mad at something you don't believe exists;rather, you are indifferent.

I have come to see that at least in his case, he is very angry and bitter at God for not coming through in some way (unknown to me) that he thought God should.

This is not atheism, but rather a misunderstanding of what God really is. He just got stuck there for some reason.

Now I just listen to his rants and I know that each one brings him a little closer to working through it.

Last time I talked to him, he said, God Bless You, Honey". I didn't say anything, but inside I rejoiced. He's almost there !

Thank you.

THat's another good thing that has come out of all this- it's staggering the amount of effort God has rallied to be put forth on my Dad's behalf.

Truly He is not willing that anyone should be lost.

That atheist kook has obsesssive-compulsive disorder. Most normal people understand that most Americans are Christians who believe in God. Only kooks and Grinches have regular, repeated , and obsesssive-compulsive tantrums about this. He needs to see a psychiatrist.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

Only Congress has the power to establish a religion and they are restricted from doing so. God in the Pledge of Allegiance does not establish a religion. A prayer in school does not establish a religion, and a manger scene on public property does not establish a religion. People saying the Lord Jesus Christ's name does not establish a religion. Congress passing a law that says we all have to go to the Glory Bound Baptist Church every Sunday establishes a religion.

Now, Congress is also forbidden from prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Hence, the law of the land says you can not tell me that I can not put a manger scene or the Ten Commandments up. You can not tell me I can not pray. You can not tell me I can not say the Lord's name.

Socialist/Communist wish to remove God from public view so you and I will begin to forget about God. Why do they want you to forget about God? Well, I am an American. I pray to my God and we handle my problems. I do not pray to my Government. Once people have forgotten how to pray to their God for help, they will begin to pray to the Government for help. From the cradle to the grave.

It is imperative that we keep God in public view.

The American people have already evicted God from their lives and their country. They don’t know what they have done, poor souls that they are.

It may not be such a small minority at all. The American people are not open atheists but practice a form of atheism in their daily lives. That’s why Oprah’s Choice is THE ONE for them.

Accepting his premise:
Why waste the short 70some years that he exists on this effort to remove God from everyone else’s consideration?

However, if you are an eternal soul who inhabits this earth for 70some years, but exists consciously forever and always afterwards, either in the presence of God or completely isolated therefrom...

Funny how all these groups, those that do not believe in God or Jesus, are so afraid of God and Jesus, and want to get Them out of our lives. They are so afraid of something that they say does not exist. Then why are you so afraid, if you are so sure that He does not exist? I don't worry about things that I can reasonably understand. So, their fear is, really deep down in side, is that it is true They exist, yet they are non believers, thus have to do something to do away with Them in our lives. Basically, they are cowards. Cowards afraid of faith. Their faith is like a liberals faith. Faith in only something they can feel, touch, see, taste, smell, etc. If it relies on true faith, they don't have it.
