Jim Matthews, Republican chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and former candidate for lieutenant governor, says he would be surprised if brother Chris, a Democrat, would leave "hardballing" to run for the Senate.
Matthews told the the AP that his brother loves his job as the anchor of MSNBC's Hardball, and is currently weighing a contract offer from the network.
Rumors and polls have been flying at the possibility of a Matthews/Arlen Specter match-up if both men made it through their primaries in the race for the U.S. Senate in November 2010.

Ancient Rome had a horse in the Senate (it's said), we now have a lowly jackass if Franken is seated. I feel mulcted -- but! if Matthews wins we'll have two jackasses!
His brother Jim is a RINO of the worst sort. The first thing he did upon being elected County Commissioner was throw his fellow Republican commissioner under the bus and make a deal with the lone Democrat (ex-congressman Joe Hoeffel) to unite and control the board. He has been a disaster and an embarassment to the local Republican Party. I wouldn’t believe anything he said and would not trust him any further than I could throw him.
He probably had a poll done and found out what everybody else already knows... Everybody hates Chris Matthews.

I think he used to be a Republican, too. He used to fill in for Rush years ago.
