UPDATED - ALERT - Frightening Text Messages Being Forwarded Around NY Jews January 2, 2009 3:00PM EST: [UPDATE BELOW] With the situation in Gaza deteriorating by the day, and anti-semitism rampant around the world, thousands of NY Jews were frightened upon receiving the following text message which has been going around on Friday afternoon:
“A Jewish woman gave a tip to a Muslim taxi driver and out of appreciation he warned her not to go to Manhattan next week Wednesday.”
YWN has reached out to high-ranking members of the NYPD, and have stated that although they received the same text message, “there are no credible threats to be concerned about - and don’t even know where this text message originated from”.
The only message that they do have for the public is the same message that they have been saying since 9/11. That message is “always be aware of your surroundings, be vigilant, and if you see anything suspicious contact the police department immediately to report what you have seen”.
UPDATE 3:50PM EST: YWN has just spoken with NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind who tells us that he has received various reports regarding this ‘threat’ and has personally contacted the FBI who is currently investigating them.
He thanked YWN for our alert to calm the public, and echoed the call for calm and vigilance at anytime and any location. “If you see something, say something,” Hikind said.
“The FBI and the NYPD take these types of threats very seriously, and investigate them thoroughly to ensure the safety of the public.”

General Islamic culture. Was fascinated by the boundaries of border cultures though. What used to be considered the ‘Classical’ period.
Have lived through enough and have seen enough to not be too surprised. I told folks in the 70s what I thought ME types would do (martyr themselves) if they believed in something enough. It has been the classical training that took me to the veil between the West and the Occident.

The time will come when good information will be ignored because of all the misinformation that is available in today’s world.
You have quoted 1st hand sources which is very good; people who are ridiculing your information should keep that in mind.
Of we all hope this turns out to be misinformation, but if not people need to be vigilant.
It is a bit concerning to think of us being between administrations right now. And also concerning that we have a incoming President who thinks it’s fine to put a politician with no relevant experience in charge of the CIA.

But...a clever planner could perhaps take advantage of a known serial hoax such as this where any slips of the tongue by underling operators would largely be dismissed in the general hubbub. Or maybe just to revel in seeing open net chatter as the date approached.

I probably would be skeptical except I’ve been in a situation where there were similar warnings. 126 people died in the event. Because I had heard warnings I knew enough to run when things started popping.
One of the earliest warnings I had was from cab drivers. Not directly. However, that day ZERO cabs showed up at the location that was attacked.
Cab drivers seem to know what’s going on.
Glad to see you followed through with a public announcement of what may come to be in a few days. Be it known to all Race keeped things under the lid knowing certain info would eventually become public. He did the responsible thing in keeping his fingers still for a few days.
Lets see will the upper elitist a##wipe jewish residence who screamed and spat on a peaceful Mccain/ Palin rally in thier neighborhood, be riding cabs that day? I hope so!

Me. Not too far removed from home country culture. Mobile. Loosely organized. Oral culture. Able to stop at the cash transactions spots without calling much attention to yourself. Heavy, private one-on-one contact with varied people of even more varied backgrounds. Capable of transport provision if necessary. Among a large populous, just about the last concern.

While I was in Iran in the 70s I (and many other) considered the only threat possibly strong enough to stage a violent large-scale revolution to be the communists/socialists.
There was already islamic terrorism since decades, but always quickly put down. Few did anticipate that black reaction, the Quran thumping turbans, would be capable of beating both the Monarchist/pro-Western forces and afterwards the Communists. 1979 was a rough awakening for the world, bringing Islamism as a global player into the forefront.

If you'd like, I'll email them so I can post a response to you with their permission. I do tech support for DHS/ICE. There are ICE agents on the JTTF that I talk to regularly. I also deal with FBI agents and officers on the FPS. If you'll provide me that name, I'd be happy to confirm this as true or false.
