That’s why Republicans need to run an ex-Democrat for President next time. They know how to deal with them. Think....Reagan.

Well, Reagan's out (I know you were citing him as an example, but I couldn't resist). Who did you have in mind? Zell Miller is the only one I think we might be able to sway, and he's getting up there. I guess Phil Gramm used to be a 'Rat, but I think he's pretty much radioactive after the last election.

Anyone have any suggestions? Are there any good conservative statesmen who used to be Democrats?

I think they got to Gramm, JC Watts, and Tancredo somehow... they all resigned in their prime.
