Thank-you for your honesty, I appreciate it. I had read that quote which Frank Marshall Davis had written in his autobiography and it made me curious enough that I attempted (in vain) to determine how many students from Kenya attended UH at Manoa. It did pique my interest you can be sure, and from what I have read about Obama Sr your description is accurate that he was a “rake”. He described himself as a serial polygamist, one woman at a time, and while he was attending Harvard he was known as MrDoubleDouble because of his drinking habits.

There were very few blacks at UH Manoa in 1961, and what few there were were overwhelmingly American. One of them was a housemate of mine, and I can tell you, he was very short of African American friends. As for Africans, i can’t say for sure, but I never met any others. There weren’t any with the high profile of Obama, that’s for sure. I’d say that the Frank Davis quote is a safe bet to have been in reference to Obama. If it wasn’t I’d be at a total loss to offer up an alternative explanation.
