Americans Closely Divided Over Israel’s Gaza Attacks (Rasmussen poll)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | January 1, 2009 | Scott Rasmussen

Americans, while far more sympathetic to Israel than the Palestinians, are closely divided over whether the Jewish state should be taking military action against militants in the Gaza Strip.

Forty-four percent (44%) say Israel should have taken military action against the Palestinians, but 41% say it should have tried to find a diplomatic solution to the problems there, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided.

Fifty-five percent (55%) of adults, however, believe the Palestinians are to blame for the current situation in Gaza, while 13% point the finger at the Israelis. Nearly one-third (32%) aren’t sure.

Men are far more sympathetic to the Israelis than women. Fifty-six percent (56%) of men support Israel’s military action, compared to 34% of women. Whites narrowly give the edge to military action, but African-Americans by three-to-one say diplomacy was the better way to go.

They should poll every one of them first for their political tilt, then do the poll on the Gaza crap.

They would find that the liberal RATS would just love for Israel to be wiped off the map and only Republicans have any support for the Jewish state.

Then they could poll American Jews and ask them why they vote every election for Rat moonbats that hate their guts!

someone posted some years back, that the response has to be so overwhelming that for the next 1000 years, every time one thinks of sending a rocket over the fence, they wet their pants in fear.

The problem is that most Americans are ignorant of events prior to, oh, the last “American Idol” season. Many are easily manipulated by press coverage that is either biased or likewise ignorant of history; this poll is simply illustrative of that ignorance. To wit: a people with a solid knowledge of history would never have elected BHO; a people with a solid knowledge of history would be clamoring for the resignation of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd; a people with a solid knowledge of history would refuse to repeat the massive failure known as the “New Deal”. And, so, a people ignorant of history think that Israel should have tried a “diplomatic solution” to the “crisis”.

Takes their minds off their despicable leadership, culture and living conditions.

That, my FRiend, is exactly, precisely, the bottom line reason for any of this, 60 years later.

only what the leftist media innundates them with

any poll that asks the “average American” what they think about anything besides what movie star they most admire is a waste of time

Incomprehensible retardation. I don't even want to know those people. We would have no basis for even the simplest forms of communication.

And, If I might add, a very good reason to turn the geographic center, Iraq, into a capitalist society. If allowed to come to fruition, it will glaringly point out the $hithole that islam has created, much to the chagrin (minimally) of the surrounding kings, mullahs, and assorted tyrants.

Rodgers and Hammerstein had it right:

You've got to be taught to hate and fear
You've got to be taught from year to year
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made
And people whose skin is a different shade
You've got to be carefully taught

You've got to be taught before it's too late
Before you are six or seven or eight
To hate all the people your relatives hate
You've got to be carefully taught
You've got to be carefully taught

Bismarck: Diplomacy without weapons is like music without instruments.

I suppose Israel could sing a cappella a while longer.

41% of Americans are so stupid they do not know that diplomatic solutions have been tried, that the PLO and Hamas don't want a diplomatic solution, and that when terrorists rain high explosive rockets down on civilians responsible governments do not wait for negotiations to work to protect their citizenry.

This stat really made me think, then I see you posted along my thought line.

What is it with women that they fall for emotionalism? Why can’t more women (not talking about those on this site, of course)see things clearly? What made Lady Thatcher so level-headed, as opposed to the crazies we see everywhere?

It really does give one reason to ponder....

...while 13% point the finger at the Israelis.

Those 13% are very closely divided as well. Some 51% of them believe the Palestinians should use carbon monoxide on the Israelis but 49% swear by Zyklon B.

I am not a fan of Israel —I believe they have made many mistakes in the past. BUT saying that, I believe they are 100% right in what they are doing now. They gave peace a chance and it didn’t work. They have no choice now. They must invade Gaza and finish this once and for all. Diplomacy will not work with those that see it as a sign of weakness. The war must be won.

"41% say it should have tried to find a diplomatic solution to the problems there"

41% of the respondents are idiots. WTH do they think Israel has been doing while sitting there and letting the HamasApes pound their populace with shrapnel-loaded rockets?

The only solution to Hamas is their immediate deaths...

That, or a case of people (secretly) hoping Hamas reaches its goals.
