First someone said on the forum that it was mailed “2nd class” (which is a phrase I didn’t think was used much any more.) then another gave a FedEx tracking # linky.
Snail Mail or FedEx...which is it?!
Besides, if it was REALLY important, overnight the sucker!
Surely someone could cover the dough for that.

Color me skeptical.

“..has uncovered the divorce decree..”

Yeah, because in divorce, everyone always tells the truth. Where exactly did this information become “uncovered” from may we ask? Uncovered from your basement or a master forgerer perhaps?

Seriously, is this a smoking gun? My skeptical senses say no.

“someone posted that it was sent “2nd class” mail and won’t arrive until Friday.”

NOBODY who is not an idiot sends something important by “second class mail”. In fact, no one at all sends anything “second class mail”. The default is First Class.

To send something “Second Class” you have to say to the postal clerk “I’m willing to send this EXTRA SLOW to save a few pennies. Please send it Second Class”.

This story has some of the same elements of a “419 letter” scam, and some of the wishful hoping reflected in this post shows the kind of thinking that leads people to fall for them.

When I WANT to send a document in real life, and it’s really important, I fax it, AND scan and e-mail it, AND Fed-Ex the original. If I am afraid that the receipient is going to claim he never got it, I send it by fax, Fed Ex, Priority Mail with Delivery confirmation and regular mail with a “Certificate of Mailing” proving it went into the box (not the same as “Certified Mail”).

Serious people treat serious matters in a serious way. This thread reads like the adventures of Inspector Clouseau.
