But O'Beirne made it clear in the email that in some cases of dismissal, he thinks the employee's politics played a role in their being let go. Nothing surprises me about B[end] 0[ver] any more. Being let go via email has always been a no-no for military personnel.

I predict Gates will last less than a year. I think they'll give him the year but he won't make it to 18 months.

I believe political payoffs in jobs is what brought the Civil Service Commission to be formed to replace the Spoils system. This isn't something new. Reagan replaced all the Carter appointees (Thank God!), Clinton replaced all the Bush appointees, and Bush replaced all the Clinton ones. It's not going to change now.

It's also been my experience that even retired generals do not want to hear the word "no."You are very perceptive. Even retired LCDRs do not want to hear the word no!

Just think how hilarious all this will/would be if between January 8 and January 20th, The One, The Messiah, The Obamaiac, was found by a court of law to be not eligible to the Office of President of the United States. So what? Biden becomes POTUS and stays the same hard-left course.

So what? Biden becomes POTUS and stays the same hard-left course. True, but the Constitution will be observed. That's important to some, myself included.
Besides, Biden is a hack, and without the discipline of the Chicago "school", he'll get a lot less of the agenda actually implemented.

It's not going to change now You weren't following along. Of course it's nothing new. But once upon a time, it didn't just go to the highest management/leadership levels, it went all the way down to the lowest clerk, postmaster, and the guy who mucked out the White House Stables. It no longer goes down anywhere near that far.
But Bush did not replace all the Clinton appointees, although he should have.

The purge begins. Obama will play by the communist rulebook and purge “unreliable” officers from the military, beginning at the highest levels and working down. It worked for Hugo Chavez, and it will work here.

Gates is only a interim SecDef. Westley Clark is slated to get the position in May of 2010

Gates will last less than a year Absolutely, this will be a rat show all the way and incrementalism is still the name of the game. They won't get rid of everyone all at once but you can be sure the new/rat list is already completed and every vote they could buy with the promise of a new job has been bought.

From what I have seen, when obama runs for re-election in 2012 he will get the votes of 95% of the members that are currently on this forum.Aside from being nonsensical, what exactly does that comment have to do with the Pentagon dismissals, which is, after all, the topic of the thead.
To: kristinn
Thanks for the memory job. I thought Gration's name rang a negativity bell.
It's not the dismissal of these people -- I'm sure none of them were surprised -- it's the classless way it was done.
It doesn't bode well for the future.
