Newsweek Uses Year-end Edition to Take Potshots at Palin
NewsBusters ^ | December 26, 2008 | Brent Baker

Posted on 12/26/2008 12:42:46 PM PST by St. Louis Conservative

Newsweek sprinkled throughout its year-end double issue, with Barack Obama on the cover as the #1 member of “The New Global Elite,” a bunch of potshots at Sarah Palin -- and even derided teen daughter Bristol too. In a list of those who committed “low behavior” during 2008 (which did at least also highlight John Edwards), the magazine accused Sarah Palin of a “smear” against Barack Obama, on another page Newsweek described her as an “ill-informed, inarticulate shopaholic” (while on the same page hailing MSNBC's Rachel Maddow as a “brilliant” woman who “gives libs a happy new voice”) and deep in the December 29/January 5 edition the magazine ridiculed Bristol Palin: “For 30 years, the Moral Majority has promoted 'abstinence only.' Jamie Lynn Spears, Bristol Palin...how's that working out?” The specifics:

Page 21, a list of “The Biggest Losers” of 2008 “who set the high-water mark for low behavior in 2008,” featured Palin: “In a smear that sounds even worse in retrospect, Sarah Palin goes rogue and stirs up prejudice by accusing Barack Obama of 'palling around with terrorists.'”

Ten pages later, in a full-page year in review version of the “Conventional Wisdom Watch” (not yet online in the posted CW), the newsweekly hit her and McCain, but admired Maddow:

Sarah Palin: Ill-informed, inarticulate shopaholic has ego bigger than Alaska -- and she's still the darling of the GOP.

John McCain: Hard to forgive the nasty end-game, and Palin pick was iresponsible. But classy concession speech and Letterman gig.

Rachel Maddow: Brilliant, ebullient, lefty lesbian gives libs a happy new voice. Will MSNBC be Obama's Fox?

“Will”?

The only people who read Newsweek are awaiting a root canal or the results of a colonoscopy, and in either event, its purpose is to cloud the mind to imminent reality.

Maddow gives libs a happy voice? A snide, unfunny joke a minute, far left lesbian with an attitude that comes across after any amount of viewing. What a creep to highlight in a major magazine.

Palin, 2012. Can’t come soon enough.

I guess not being able to identify gender visually is now admired by the MSM.

And in recent days, there have been news reports that Bristol Palin’s boyfriend’s mother has been arrested on drug charges. Why is this news?

In addition to all the distortions and caricatures that the MSM tries to shove down our throats as reality, we also have news such as Bristol’s boyfriend’s mother. Who decides that something like this is newsworthy, and why was it reported?

If Bristol’s future mother in law had won the Alaska mother of the year award, would that have been in the news at all?????? Or is only negative news about anyone associated with the targets of the MSM (such as Sarah Palin) considered newsworthy????

I detest Newsweek and believe eventually they’ll follow the NYT into the dustbin of history.

“The only people who read Newsweek are awaiting a root canal or the results of a colonoscopy”

The Palin insults demonstrate the snarky commentary by the fags who write and edit Newsweek. Newsweek is running on financial fumes.

If the financial meltdown didn’t occur, she represented the wedge issues that win conservatives elections and had to be destroyed.

I’m in a very sour mood towards Republicans these days, which means I’m tempted to withdraw from politics for good.

And at the moment, I’m not feeling all that great about Palin. Not because I buy for an instant all these leftist lies about her lack of knowledge or experience, but because I fear that she will end up doing the GeorgeBush/JohnMcCain thing of trying to make “friends” with the liberal media.

I’m not holding my breath for her to actually stand up to them and call them what they are: a bunch of biased, non-journalistic leftist cheerleaders for a single political side.

No Republican these days DOES stand up to those leftist creeps and I didn’t hear Palin doing it either. So like I say, I’m not holding my breath.

But I will say this: no more votes for spineless ones from me. If you can’t stand up to the left, actively and powerfully, then don’t ask me for time, money or votes. I’m not playing that game anymore.

This stuff is so bad
I regret there's no right wing
"direct action" group

to do, say, good ... pranks
on the kind of main stream scum
that take these cheap shots.

I have suspected for some time that their real objection to Ms. Palin is that she can afford a better wardrobe than they can. And she looks far better in a blouse.

The real story is about a Marxist Social Worker who is a corrupt politician from the most corrupt organization in the country, the Chicago Democrat Party. The next real story is this idiot believes enough in global warming to destroy the economy of this country.

Did I also mention he is a racist (Black Liberation Theology)?

The news media failed to expose Obama on any of these points during the campaign.

Why trash Palin? Because she’s the real deal, someone who wants to cut these liberal politicians off at the knees by exposing their idiotic philosophy. The politicians INCLUDE the news media who lead the charge to socialism, heck we’re already there, toward Marxist nirvana.

Spend your way out of a depression? Where did these idiots come from?

Sarah Palin: Ill-informed, inarticulate shopaholic...

As opposed to the "57-state", "duh-duh-duh", numerous trips to Hawaii at $400K a pop soon to be commander in chief Obama?

Sheesh. What a cage-liner.
