Well, that's that ... if Shelly doesn't want Caroline appointed to the Senate, then it won't happen ...

This is good.
Maybe its the Cuomos, Shelly and Hill vs. the Kennedys and Kerrys. Any chance they could all lose?

I wonder where the other N.Y. senator chuckie schumer is on this coronation of princess caroline?
I also wonder if his public stance is what he really wants?

The cesspools of New York. I wouldn’t appoint either one. These candidates don’t care about America or anyone but themselves.

I have an idea. Let’s elect someone that actually does.

Silver should know about conflicting loyalties in the public arena. He's elected to represent taxpayers but his main constituent is the ambulance chaser industry:

CONGRESS REPEALS THE SHELLY TAX (8-4-05 NY Daily News)

It is now $600 cheaper for New Yorkers to lease a car, thanks to an act of Congress that cut Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver off at the knees, along with his cronies among the state's trial lawyers. Tucked into the $287 billion transportation bill that has been sent to President Bush for signature is a provision outlawing New York's so-called vicarious liability law, a statute that drove up the cost of leasing in New York by making car companies responsible for every accident in every vehicle they lease. The law was a gold mine for the lawyers. Besides suing reckless drivers who injured their clients, the lawyers got to reach into the far deeper pockets of leasing companies for big settlements. It made no difference that the companies played absolutely no role in the accidents.

I wonder if Hillary is behind the scenes putting the kabosh on Caroline? After all the Kennedy’s were staunch Zero endorsers.

En zo, Caroline should actually be loyal to the people of New York, but if her only choices are between a blind guy who’s the butt of SNL jokes or a multi-billionaire trying to clear New York city streets of vehicles, whas’ a girl gonna’ do.

"If I were the governor, I would look and question whether this is the appointment I'd want to make, where her first obligation might be to the mayor of the City of New York, rather than to the governor who would be appointing her," Silver said.
I guess no one mentioned to Silver that a senator's first obligation is to the United States of America; the second obligation is to the citizens of the state repped by the senator.
