Lebanese authorities discovered seven missiles aimed at Israel in southern Lebanon, an official Lebanese news agency reported Thursday. The missiles are currently under inspection to determine whether they were enabled for launch, and they will subsequently be dismantled, the news agency reported.

The missiles were found five kilometers from Lebanon's border with Israel, in an area which is considered a Hezbollah stronghold but is officially under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 1701. Under the terms of the UN resolution, it is forbidden to station weapons in this area.

Seven found, only thousands more to go. Lebanon knows Israel has changed its policy towards future strikes. Now that Hezbollah is a recognized part of their political system, there won't be any surgical targeting of neighborhoods in the future. Still, a token find and gesture, at best.

Certainly dismantle them. Say... a 4-ship strike package with CAP cover and AWACS support. That should dismantle them nicely.

My guess is that these were 122 mm Katyusha type missiles. You don’t dismantle these. It’s not worth it. You place a 1/4 lb block of C-4 on the warhead and blow it in place. Usually gets the launcher as well.

Another United Nations Operation goes to ...

If you want to mess something up, ask US GOVT to fix it..

If you want to REALLY SCREW Something UP... have the UN take over.

Hard to say, but probably. The article specifically mentions missiles, but most news services don’t know the difference between a rocket and a missile. As you say, though, likely a rocket of the Fajr series. It’s a Katyusha derivative.

Since when does Hezbollah follow U N resolutions. They may as well be resolutions from the Wilma Flintstone Day Care Center.

Or dung from shinola. How an organization without a grasp of facts and reality can be relied on for editorial judgement is beyond me. Of course, they are going out of business as we speak.

Turn them towards Damascus and fire them off. Let them feel what it is like to be targeted.

Dismantle UNIFIL while we're at it!!!

The UN is an Arab/Islamic propaganda machine. UNIFIL has been useless for years - turning a blind eye to Hezbollah activity.

“8 Katyusha rockets defused in Lebanon”
By BRENDA GAZZAR AND YAAKOV KATZ

SNIPPET: “The Lebanese army on Thursday discovered and defused eight Katyusha rockets that had been placed near the southern town of Nakoura and were about to be fired at Israel.”

SNIPPET: “Hizbullah is believed to have multiplied its rocket arsenal since the Second Lebanon War and now has close to 40,000 rockets south and north of the Litani River. The IDF claims that Hizbullah is storing many of its rockets inside villages in southern Lebanon where UNIFIL does not have independent access.

While UNIFIL has come under Israeli criticism for allegedly not enforcing its mandate to prevent Hizbullah’s rearmament, IDF officers said on Thursday that UNIFIL had proved its effectiveness this time.”
