Hi Lady Jag
Enjoyed the horroscopes! ....you'll be tired and cranky.... my horrorscope was right, ;) Very funny :). Thanks!

Have you had enough of snow yet? We had snow and ice Sat & Sun. Sat was the worse. I know you all were hit with way too much snow.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Oh yeah, I can understand wanting a certain peice to get the sound you want.

But I know a lotta guys that just try to throw money at the fact that they suck.

And they don't throw that cash at a good teacher either.

Apparently we're going to have to move to the arctic for global warming.

We've had more snow before Christmas than I can remember and cold weather started so early that our last camping trip had to be canceled when the water pump froze in the motorhome.

I like the snow now that I no longer work outside home and aren't forced to commute during blizzards. I drive fine in snow and ice but few other drivers are to be trusted.

LOL! I may have pinged you to the wrong post if you’re thinking Christmas songs. Imeant the “Beach Baby” song, because of the shore and summer.

““Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, with Clarence Clemmons ripping a great sax solo and providing the HO HO Ho’s.”

I immediately change the radio station when that comes on. I like quite of few of Bruce’s songs but not that one.

I side with your parents on that one ;)

I have been fixated on a sound that I have been trying to reproduce at will and the best way to to explain it is a sold, sustained note that has a full bottom to it as you play them. I have been able to produce it only a couple of times but not every time. It seems that when I take off on a run it seems to lose the volume as I play them. I heard it at a few concerts and from a couple of players in a small club settings as well as in bootlegs and other recordings. The best example of it would be Roger Hurricane Wilson and Jimmy Page when they are doing leads just sort of riffing around. I am sure it has something to with the Les Paul Standard and the amp setup but I wonder if they know they were even doing it. It could be just how it was recorded or how I heard it and maybe I heard it wrong. But I would like to get it down if it does exist.

Yep you got that right. The money would be better spent on a good teacher. There is no substitute for good teaching and a ton of practicing and getting feedback on how your doing.

I remember a story from a guitar magazine where there an aspiring gifted guitarist who wanted to break the rules and go where others had not gone before in music. He felt he had plateaued so he went to a teacher and after a few weeks he was still in the same place so the teacher told him to go to music school. He was good enough to be accepted into Julliard and spent 4 years there learning from the best. He came back to he teacher all inspired showing off all the new scales and licks he had learned. The teacher listened and then said “This is great now forget about everything you been taught and just play.” The moral of the story is you got to know the rules before you can break them.

I know it is not the greatest story but the point stuck with me. If your really into something learn everything you can about it and practice, practice, practice. Then have fun with what you love doing.
