LAS VEGAS A Nevada corrections official says O.J. Simpson has arrived at a northern Nevada prison to serve his 9 to 33 year sentence.
State prisons spokeswoman Suzanne Pardee says the 61-year-old Simpson was moved Friday to Lovelock Correctional Center, about 90 miles northeast of Reno.
Lovelock is one of the newest and smallest prisons in the Nevada state prison system. It opened in 1995 and houses just under 1,500 inmates in two-bed cells.

I’m not an O.J. fan nor am I hostile toward him.
However, I think this sentence is very excessive.
To those who say it’s payback for when he should have been convicted...
Maybe he should have...but he WASN’T. Should juries base punishment not on the case before them but their feelings about the defendant’s past trial... when that defendant was found not guilty...?
Is that what we want in a justice system?...
I love that awful movie!
What?
OJ has exhausted all other possible locations for the ‘real’ killer and he is reduced to finally looking in the Lovelock Correctional Center?
I bet he finds the real killer in there. (obviously no sarc)
Howard Cosell must be turning in his grave with all the stories regarding the horrendous behavior of so many professional athletes nowadays. I never much liked Cosell when he was an announcer but I find myself nowadays wishing he were around to journalisticaaly slap some sense into these arrogant jerks.
This was OJ's plan all along.
He got word the real killer was being housed at Lovelock, on unrelated charges.
This was the only way he could get close to him, and bring jailhouse justice to bear.
"Vengence will be MINE", says, OJ!
The real killer was obviously not a golfer, nor a gambler.
Lovelock? An interesting name for a prison...
As far as I know the law was followed throughout this mess; I think he is a victim of his own stupidity and manditory sentencing.
I will also say- Nevada is a pretty tough state to get in trouble in. I lived there about 35 years ago and when I moved there I remarked that it seemed to be wide open state where anything goes- I was referring to the legal gambling and prostitution & there were no highway speed limits at the time. A native told me “It’s true Nevada doesn’t have many laws- but they are very serious about the few they have.” I know that still goes because our horseshoer got caught up in their legal system last year over a DUI and served about twice as much time as he would have anywhere else, they just don’t fool around.
Armed robbery and kidnapping? I’d say the jail term was justified and not excessive at all.
Just my not so humble opinion:
First, the JURY didn’t impose sentence; the JUDGE did.
Second, couldn’t happen to a more deserving fellow, and NOT because of the murder trial.
Third, check what the sentences are for; the consectives are to prevent a perversion of justice by lettig him out rediculously early by reason of celebrity.
That IS what I want in a justice system.
For far too long it has been a bleeding heart “CRIMINAL Justice” system, (of, by, and for criminals) to the point that when a CRIMINAL actually gets what they have coming, people look at it as an injustice. Perverted.
Rectalmash would be an even better name.
I doubt that. OJ is becoming a old man. What he did in the past doesn't mean ____ to the people in prison with him. John Gotti payed protection money to the aryan brotherhood in prison. After a while he decided to quit paying and promptly got beat up in prison and started paying again. OJ isn't going to be running anything in prison. He is going to pay what he has to pay and keep to himself while he is there, that is if he is even in the general population.
Yeah, but the only way OJ could be sure was to search out all golf courses (that would accept him), casinos, bars, and clubs.
OJ was definetly thorough though through his searchs.
(I always wanted to put those three words together.)
So O.J. gets to learn what it was like to be a tight end. Hopefully, the offense is going to get great penetration. With any luck, they will get into the end zone on a routine basis. Put it right between the uprights if there’s any cooperation going on at all. I just hope O.J. has to call his initiation “first and twelve”.
First, the JURY didnt impose sentence; the JUDGE did.
True...but he seemed in a “I’ll fix him now” mode
You a big fan of male rape I guess
It appears his minimum cumulative sentence will be 5 years but he won’t be eligible for a parole hearing for 8 or 9 years. From what I hear it is rare for a inmate to be paroled in NV on their first try.
Having had some experience on the wrong side of the criminal justice system when I was young I predict his prison time will go easy, at first, but he can forget about hanging out with white inmates. The brothers will take him under their wing and protect him until the novelty of who he is wears off and as long as he keeps them in commissary goodies. After that all bets are off. One thing endemic to all who do hard time is how the days seem to crawl by in prison and how noisy it is. The ceaseless, unremitting, mindless noise at all hours of the day and night in a prison is not to be believed and for some is the worst part of prison.
