I know many love her in the 2nd District in Iowa and throughout the state. I’ll work my butt off for her if she decides to run, especially if it means nuking Huckabee.

Very good analysis. Palin will take Iowa by storm, eat in people’s houses (and help with the dishes), and charm the pants off of every red blooded American man in the state. Palin, 2012. Can’t come soon enough.

McCain’s dopey advisors, who had him supporting bailouts and making a big production about halting the campaign was the key to his loss, in my estimation. McCain should have sailed in and tried to stop the bailouts. Goodness knows, the people didn’t want them. If they passed anyway, he could still have claimed to be against and hammered the other guy with it. I was out in Spokane when that was playing out, and the 4 other Republicans at my worksite all opposed the bailout, and all were left scratching their heads at McCain’s reaction. It was a moment when McCain could have turned the tides.

“Reflecting back on the presidential campaign, the pollster said that the McCain campaign had a brief window where they believed victory over President-elect Barack Obama was possible. But that hope was dashed when the campaign’s back was broken by the financial crisis. “

Correction: it was broken by not taking a principled stand against the bailouts.

So she wows them in Iowa. That's pretty easy to forecast. McCain never did very well there, if memory serves. Didn't he all but skip the primaries there?

Then she goes to New Hampshire, where McCain always did very well. I would bet that for many of the reasons she would romp through Iowa, those same reasons would be a drag on her campaign in much of New Hampshire.

She'd do quite well in South Carolina, just to keep the thought going...

pretty good analysis. The financial crisis did alter the whole thing for McCain, and they completely failed at repositioning after that. Nothing coherent on an economic plan whatsoever. He could not even explain his health plan, even though it was superior.

I love Sarah and hope she is absorbing as much as possible about national and international issues. The left will still be out to play gotcha and she has to be prepared for this.

My faith in Sarah has to do with who she is and what she has done with it so far....I figured she’d learn the rest as she went along but too many people think if you didn’t go to the right schools and cozy up to the right people that you’re not qualified.

As far as I’m concerned - character counts and Sarah has tons!

This sounds like the draft Fred Thompson movement.
I know a national hero/leader would do wonders for us after what we have been through, but you can tell Palin is not moving in that direction. Hillary, you could tell was running for president in 2001 even when she lied and said she wasnt.

Let Sarah be Sarah. Many of the “Sarah is our Savior “crowd reminds me of Monty Pythons “Life of Brian” when the Jews went running after one potential Savior after another. It’s desperation breeding insanity. A sign we are hopelessly lost.

2010 Must be our focus. I would love a hero now. In 1993 against new Clinton mine was Dick Armey. But he was already in a national public office dealing with national issues.

Sarah will kick butt in caucus states, just as Obama did.

Of course, Sarah will kick butt where Republican votes are.

Her resume will be enhanced with six years of governorship behind her, instead of two.

Even after the financial crisis, McInturff said the Arizona senator was still within striking distance of Obama until former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed the Democrat”

What the heck is this idiot talking about?
McCain's numbers fell through the floor after the financial crisis in mid September. Colin Powell had nothing to do with it.
If these are the clowns who were running McCain's campaign, it's no surprise he lost.

It is very hard to gauge what is going to happen in 4 years, let alone 2. No matter who the nominee (and I am fully behind Sarah at this point), these primaries have to be closed. The point about Obama being on the DEM ticket in 4 years is a good one. The DEMs will come out in force to vote for anyone on the GOP side who might have a chance of beating him.

Another thing the GOP nominee needs to do IS NOT accept public financing. If Sarah is the nominee, she could probably raise more money (at least legally) as any other candidate, including Obama (unless you count is ILLEGAL $$).

Also agree she would do great in Iowa and other conservative strongholds in the primaries, but it still really concerns me how she is going to play in the general in some of these purple states that the O won. We need a very strong message and principled conservative candidate that will appeal (and not pander as a populist) to the swing voters. I pray often that she is the one that can do it. 4 years is a long time to learn and repair your image. After all we live in a short memory society...

RNC needs to have closed primaries if anyone is stand a chance. The time to do this is now. The other side will have to change tactics to deal with that.

The best thing about Sarah Palin running in Iowa is that she will suck all of the oxygen out of Hucksterbee without half trying.

Let's hope the RNC closes the primaries so libs will not be able to crossover as they did in 2008 and vote for another RINO ala juan mccain.

That said, the only good that came out of mccain's campaign was introducing Sarah to America.

“Palin ‘well suited’ for Iowa (2012)”

Forget Iowa. Front-load the deepest red states. If you are in a state that goes blue 90% ofthe time, you ought not be selecting the GOP front-runner.

First up, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Alaska and Idaho.

John McCain brought us Sarah Palin, in a way.

That alone, might just be enough to make up for the rest of his mis-steps.

How about from here on, every Sarah thread should be liberally sprinkled with prototypes of “Sarah 2012” bumper sticker images, so FReepers can start putting the message out there?

There’s one I saw already - anyone else have a good Palin 2012 bumper sticker yet?

I imagine they’ll sell, already.
