I have no idea who the attackers were, but I have ZERO tolerance for attacks on humanity of any kind, unless one’s life is at stake or one’s family.

These cretins should be delt with because of assault not a "hate" crime. Of course some animals are more equal then others. You're right, and I suspect if caught they'll be charged with some level of assault. I do think that, given high recidivism rates, motivation is a factor in sentencing, but the crime is the same.

As one with no intimate knowledge of any form of Jewish custom, I ask:
What is the significance of wearing a "yamacha" (round cloth) versus wearing a "yarmulke" (round cap) on one's head?

What’s a yamacha?
I assume a Yarmulke. and that’s an easy way to tell if someone is Jewish

Jews in Florida tend to vote democrat....Democrats are soft on crime.....I cant understand this.... I doubt politics had anything to do with the crime.

There is a man at my shul who is supposed to open up a shooting range this Spring, specifically for women and children to learn to shoot.
Did you read that ammo is going to be listed in a database?
Buy now before January 20th!

Anyway, how do they know he was attacked simply because he's Jewish? They didn't say anything. They don't, it's an assumption. It could just as easily be racial, or simply random.

It would take a while for that to happen, I suspect.
But yes, I have large stockpiles, and weapons that were puchased privately.

I think I mispelled the word. I have a bad migraine now from being so upset. Sorry for my mistake.

I don’t think anyone here would disagree with that sentiment.
It sounded to me, however, like some sort of connection was being made between attacks on Jews and Jewish-Christian relations.
True Christians are the best friends Jews, and particularly Israelis, have in this country. This despite the fact that overwhelmingly, Jews continue to vote in a manner directly at odds with the so-called “Christian right”.

There is a possibility that this was an interrupted robbery. My husband was assaulted this past summer and when a car drove by the attackers fled. They never took anything from him either but were eager to cause him physical harm.

This is a nasty assault, but it is called a hate crime because the victim wasn’t a white, male, Christian. If it had been it would have been his fault for being out where he could be assaulted by citizens exercising their right to their normal behavior patterns.
I am sorry for the man who was hurt. I hope he recovers and I hope that the suspects are caught and punished. I simply can’t accept that a system that demands equal treatment under the law doesn’t support equality among victims.

“So if he was attacked because he was a Republican, or in the course of a robbery or because of A, B, C or D then it would be a lesser crime and the attacked is worthy of less attention and concern because it is not a “hate” crime.”
There are a lot of people who hate Jews, Republicans and Americans. That’s why an arab threw shoes at Bush and why he now has so many fans around the world. They aren’t people with issues who just ‘happen’ to be muslim.

What if he was wearing a zucchetto? Can we have hate crimes against Catholics?

NO, I have an article about ammo being listed in a database. They obviously think they can’t get guns, but they can track ammo.
