BENSALEM, Pa. An illegal alien from South America was ordered to stand trial on murder charges yesterday after a witness told of diving away from the truck the suspect allegedly used to fatally smash the victim against a wall.
Bartender Carl Slayton Jr., choking up at times, testified at a preliminary hearing that Jose Esteban Maldonado-Luzuriaga revved his truck and sped at him and William Sullo III, who jumped in the wrong direction and was pinned to the exterior of a bar.
Slayton, older brother of Houston Texans running back Steve Slaton, said it happened seconds after he gave the suspect the finger thinking the immigrant wanted only to scare them the night of Nov. 29 outside the Salute Bar on Knights Road.
It happened, he said, after he told 35-year-old Maldonado to get of the bar because he was drunk and loudly arguing in Spanish with other Salute patrons.
Another bartender, Maureen Richardson, started refusing to serve Maldonado more beer about 90 minutes after he came in at 8:30 p.m. and drank the first of the five Coronas he later told the cops he had downed that night.
Slayton said Richardson just wouldnt serve him. He kept asking for a beer, and she just gave him water because he was drunk.
Thats when he started arguing with the other patrons.
It wasnt pleasant. He kept getting angry, said Slayton, who explained that he told Maldonado to get out of the bar when he noticed that Maldonado had another beer in his hand.

Until the life of a Senator’s son or daughter (or grandson or grandaughter) is ruined by one of these murderous thugs, we’ll never see the end of it.
Maybe the US should establish a camp for all these illegals, in Iraq or Afghanistan.Get caught here and get a free ride courtesy of MAC.Once there, they are on their own!
Nah, jail the criminals and send the others back to where they came from. Only, seal the borders first. I’m not vindictive, just fed up with their in-your-face attitude toward we citizens.
Illegals are destroying this country. Their “contributions” to the United States are in an all ways, on balance, a big negative to the U.S.
They are slaughtering us and raping us and assaulting us and injuring us in unprecedented numbers.
Get them out of here, or I swear, the American people will take care of the problem themselves. It is coming to that.
Oh, well. We know what an insult it is to give an illegal the finger. Arrest the bartender.
Where does that attitude come from? It comes from the fact that they think they are above the law. And, in a way they are. The tacit acceptance of their presence by the U.S. govt. gives them the idea that they are not culpable for their crime of being an invader and it escalates from there.
Absolutely. Our government is complicit in their existence, their posturing and hubris. Yet we, who the government was formed to serve, get the brunt of their animosity. OTOH, who do we really have to blame but ourselves. It's we who vote these anti-American politicians into office.
Only if you are looking to preserve the America you grew up in. I'm afraid that's not what the politicians in Washington have in mind.
Having lived in a country where I had very little in common with the established majority, I can tell you that I kept clear of the authorities when I thought they could harm me, but other than that did pretty much as I damn well pleased. I didn’t even bother to figure out the local laws and customs. If what I was doing was against the law, so be it.
Hey, I was young, stupid and foolish. If I had it all to do over again, I would do it differently. But that is the way it was for all of us ex-pats. I suspect that is what it is like for the illegals here.
At home, they might be sober, tax-paying, law-abiding citizens, but when they are here, they just don’t care about our country or our laws. They keep track on the very few things that can get them in real trouble, but otherwise do pretty much as they damn well please.
IMHO. This is the true villain of the story.
You ain't kiddin'!
