In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.
On ABCs This Week, host George Stephanopoulos asked: The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike Duncan, has been highly critical of the way President- elect Obama has dealt with this.
"He's had a statement every single day, saying that the Obama team should reveal all contacts they've had with Governor [Rod] Blagojevich. He says that Obama's promise of transparency to the American people is now being tested. Do you agree with that?
McCain replied: I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. And so, I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.

We FReepers should begin giving McCain a but of a pass - early Alzheimer's is tough enough without criticism.

The press is back to loving McCain. And for good reason.
And now that the election is over and in the crapper, I no longer have to hide my gagging when I speak his name.

McCain still doesn’t get what was and is at stake in having a Marxist president supported by a group of bona fide thugs. If he did, he’d have campaigned as would have been appropriate to the dangers.

I hope someone in Arizona gives him a primary fight.

"Im thinking were lucky this a-hole didnt get elected after all."
I thought that we dodged a bullet when Hillary lost to Obama. Now she is going to be in the Presidential succession?
Obama is either stupid after all, or she must really have the goods on him.

And now that the election is over and in the crapper, I no longer have to hide my gagging when I speak his name.I'm from a state so blue that I at least had the luxury of not having to pretend I respected John McCain as a candidate or as a man.

Does this guy EVER think before he whines?Actually, he does. He thinks: "What's in it for me, Johnny McCain, the most important thing God ever created or ever will create?"
And folks thought Bill Clinton was a pathologic narcissist.

And don't forget what he and the Shukster orchestrated in Va or WVa. He wouldn't ‘slime’ Obammie the Commie by going after Obammie’s past associates (Ayers, Wright, Rezko, etc.) because McCain said he wouldn't fight dirty. But he certainly had no trouble playing slimeball politics against another Republican (Romney).

I must agree. Not much to gain by R's piling on Barky....the MSM has played it up enough to remove some lustre from the Messiah's "change" theme. We're all on alert that's is the same old politics, only maybe with an enhanced strain called the "Chicago Way."
It's perfectly natural for the campaigns to consult on Barky's replacement, but it was odd Barky didn't admit to something so natural. Most of the scum seems to have come from Blago. We'll see about the Rhamn and the rest. More staining to come, and maybe Rhamn won't be confirmed, but I seriously doubt Barky was engaged in the sale of his old seat.
