25 more NATO trucks torched

PESHAWAR: At least 25 more trucks, parked at Bilal Terminal on Ring Road, carrying supplies for NATO and US forces in Afghanistan were torched by militants in a petrol bomb attack on Saturday morning.

According to sources, multiple explosions rocked the terminal at 2am, setting fire to 10 trucks and 15 containers. It was a sixth attack on the NATO supply line in a month. More than 300 trucks and Humvee vehicles have been set ablaze by militants in such attacks.

The militants threw petrol bomb at the terminal, due to which fire erupted. Fire fighters rushed to the scene and it took them an hour to put out the fire.

Fida Mehmood, a police official, while talking to a foreign news agency said that fire fighters saved 19 vehicles from burning. He said security has been enhanced after the attack.

Frontier Constabulary Commander Rehmat Khan Deputy told a private TV channel that most of the FC personnel were deployed at the border areas and therefore could not be posted at the terminal.

"The demand made by the NWFP government to deploy 10 FC platoons at the terminal is unjustified," he said.

This is war — which includes assuming that supply lines are always subject to attack.

One of the people in charge is the Police Deputy, who says that the demand for additional forces is unneccessary.

Yes, quite a risky situation has developed on that border.

That’s funny ... I always imagined that the UN would bother to put up Sentry Guards to prevent people from walking up and tossing bombs into the area.

I’ve been on Boy Scoutting expeditions in the mountains, where we had better security, than what I’m reading in the papers. (We have had bears in the area kill campers - so we set up guards during the night. Camp but camp safely).

So, why is it that we are seeing all these UN vehicles destroyed? If the OIC can’t manage to protect his vehicles, how can he be depended on to protect his men?

I heard an interview with the logistics guy for US command.
They have a new path picked out along part of the old silk road. It goes through about 8 countries and is twice as long at about 1600 miles.
They will be ready to change about January 1.

no kidding, wouldn’t you think that when this keeps continuously happening daily in the same place, wouldn’t common sense say, “let’s find another supply route?

Perhaps, they need to get off Blackwater’s case & let them provide protection for the supply convoys.

Instead of tying their hands. It’s a shame those 17 civilians died, but some times those things happen.

I know times are tough & the budget is run away now, but we need a second surge but in Afganistan.

At home we need to start using & expanding our energy sources.

All it takes is one incident in the Middle East & we all know oil will spike again to 70-100. Iran’s dependence on oil exports is well over $40 a barrel. The Iranian government is depedent on $90 oil. Amadidajerk has to create a crisis for oil to go back up. He’s already got problems with college youth. He’s too extreme for the people.

We should have CIA in Iran trying to create rebellion.

Perhaps if we could get the Iyatolas kicked out with Amadid a jerk, we could have moderate Muslims in charge.

Plus there needs to be an Arab Sunni/Shia Summit.

Unlike most Americans, I’ve read the Koran.
Mohamed has passed laws down from God.
I do believe that Islam is a religion of peace.
For many many years these two families of Sunni & Shia have lived together & coexisted. Even to did Christians & Jews live among them.
You Sunni & Shia must soon come to realize that God is always watching. Is that hatred in the Holy Koran.
Mohamed would never stand for your hatred. Wasn’t it Mohamed that allowed those jews & christians to live among them in peace?

Perhaps in Mecca you will throw your stones of hate at the devil and be done with it. You must thrpw your thought of Extremism at that wal too. Just like in the Koran, the Old Testament also speaks of battles where no survivors were taken or enslaved. But, you don’t see Chrstians going to the extreme. Like the Muslim expansion, the Christians also did some expansion & forced conversion in the 15 & 1600s.

Who knows, perhaps if we Americans had some Sharia Laws those clowns in Washington & Wall Street would be a little more honest.

I mean we re a Christian nation are we not?

What happened to the 10 Commandments?

Jan 1????
Whoever has been in charge of this cluster$uck needs to stand point on the next convoy.

You don’t win battles by losing your supply lines.

So are they going to use poppy profits to replace the gear?

It could be worse than you think.

Looks like some of our money could be indirectly funding our enemies. Perhaps the protection money wasn’t forthcoming, so that is why they are destroying trucks.
