Federal Sources: Fitzgerald Held Off Blagojevich Bust to Protect Obama Election Chances; Did Obama Fail Ethics Requirements of Illinois Bar?

A federal source of mine with ties to Chicago says that FBI agents had enough to prosecute corrupt, helmet-haired Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich back in June, when he was already engaged in some of the blackmail and extortion alleged by the FBI affidavit and other documents associated with his arrest and prosecution.

The source says that the FBI was suddenly ordered by the U.S. Attorney's Office--and I believe that order came from the top, ie., U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and Justice Department officials in Washington--to hold off on doing anything until after the election, so as not to hurt Obama's White House bid. Here's what my inside source says.

I know for a fact FBI Chicago had enough to indict Blagojevich in June. They were 2 weeks from indictment in June based on cooperation and testimony at the Stu Levine trial. Levine was Tony Rezko's bud, fund raiser for Blago, and our President-Elect...http://www.debbieschlussel.com/

Actually, if you read through the transcript parts that Fitzgerald has released it's pretty clear that much of this was going on BEFORE the election.

That's why Blog and his cronies were ready with press releases on November 5 announcing his meetings with Obama that day and later on the very topic of "who gets the appointment".

Besides, you know that Obama doesn't do anything without a script.

We all know Fitzgerald's technique ~ when he has a RINO or Democrat on the hook he goes after some little guy to draw attention away from the big guy. He did that by going after "Scooter" Libby ~ that way you never noticed that Plame had been ratted out by Powell and Armitage.

He's done it before; he'll do it again.

The top end politicians just love Fitzgerald ~ he's their kind of "boy".

Don’t ever take lightly news that Debbie Schlussel writes about, she does her home work, has the most respected sources and has her life threated regulary with the information she brings into the sunlight.

I have been reading her articles for years and she always breaks the Big Stories of today, months or even years before any big new stations or papers report it.

And whats the big deal if I post from Schlussel, she has a good site that exposes the muslim terrorist connections here and abroad.

I think they probably were told by the WH to hold off, because it is obvious that Bush bent over backwards not to prejudice Bambi’s chance.

They being Fitzgerald?

The prosecutor who went tooth and nail after Bush and Cheney and Libby?

And Bush can just call an independent prosecuter and tell him to hold off?

Are you missing a /sarc tag?

Federal Sources: Fitzgerald Held Off Blagojevich Bust to Protect Obama Election Chances...not at all surprising - and yet a few years ago when Rep.Curt Weldon of suburban Philly was under investigation for some trumped up charges his home was raided by the FBI in a highly publicized incident, complete with heavy TV coverage, only a week or two before the election - Weldon lost his reelection bid and the POS Sestak elected in his place (and I never heard anything about Weldon's supposed wrongdoing again) - fascinating how those invested in big government use government powers to make sure their ilk are perpetuated.......

Let’s add this with the “economic emergency” that suddenly developed when McCain got the Palin/convention bounce and had a lead in the polls.

It stinks of sabotage by the WH if you ask me. I like Bush and am not much for conspiracies. But this all just stinks.

The big story in Illinois during he election and immediate post-election period really wasn't Obama ~ it was "closing the state parks".

Blog closed all the state parks except those in Chicago. If you wanted to know where Blog was during that period of time you need to look up the park stories.

"Fitzgerald Held Off Blagojevich Bust to Protect Obama Election Chances"

Fine. How about indicting Fitzgerald for aiding and abetting a felony and obstruction of justice?

No problem...I have done it on several occasions. I have had more success using key title words than keywords.

From the article:

Frankly, it's obvious that Obama knew of the "sale" of the Senate seat. He acknowledged he knew of the "sale," and "we turned it down." And I believe he knew far more than he's letting on.

Obviously, Obama knows something about what was going on here, but is Schlussel correct that Obama has acknowledged anything related to the "sale," or has said anything remotely close to "we turned it down," in relation to Blogo's request? This could be explosive, if there's any corroboration.

I am pointing out that Obama lied when he said he didn't discuss filling the Senate seat with Blagojevich.

Besides his ‘spokesman's’ assertions on TV that ‘Obama had spoke to the Governor about it’, this story also shows that he met with him about it.

but Bush is about the most self-sabotaging person we have ever had as president. It would be one thing if this affected only Bush, but what he never seems to have realized is that by abandoning his leadership position, he threw all the rest of us to the dogs.

Exactly. It's all very well to be "nice," and help your enemies, and turn the other cheek if you are a private person. But if you are a public official, and especially THE public official, you have a duty and an obligation to protect your country and its citizens from evil. Bush just doesn't seem to get that. Yes, he has tried to protect us from al Qaeda, but he has done little or nothing to protect us from our internal enemies who are subverting and corrupting all our institutions and undermining everything he has tried to do.

As for Fitz, sure, he goes after a few Democrat pols when he is told it's OK to do so, because they're being thrown off the back of Daley's sleigh. But he isn't going to go after the big guys--Daley, Obama, anyone he is warned to lay off of. It was typical that he gave immunity to the real Plame leakers so they could help him get Scooter Libby on a technicality.

Just one last comment ~ this thread will probably serve as the basis for several radio talk show hosts tomorrow.

This is the same Patrick Fitzgerald who successfully made a case to convict Scooter Libby of lying about a crime that was not committed. Given that track record, this is just another day in the life.

Oh, how I miss Mike Royko!!!! The columns he could be writing now about all of this!
