Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff were arrested in Chicago Tuesday on two counts each of corruption charges relating to trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat. More at Fox News

How was he supposed to know that selling power, influence, favors and taking bribes and payoffs would be considered illegal by those picky right wingers in the Bush Justice Department?

President-elect Barack Obama and Representative Rahm Emanuel will be issuing denials as to their previous associations with Governor Rod R. Blagojevich.
It must not be forgotten that Emanuel succeeded Blagojevich in Congress as soon as Blagojevich vacated the seat to assume the governor’s mansion. Emanuel had to move into the district as he had never lived there before. Emanuel effectively bought the seat. Afterwards, some top precinct vote hustlers working for Emanuel went to prison and the Congressman denied any knowledge of their cheating the taxpayers by performing political work in return for job promotions or while drawing pay while on the clock at their municipal jobs.

Maybe the Federal Government should step in and temporarily take over the Illinois state government instead of messing with the auto companies. The corruption in Illinois and Chicago has surpassed the levels found in most third world countries and just keeps getting worse. Private enterprise is the victim here and can’t be relied upon to solve this problem. Only the Feds can do this. Let’s demand that the courts appoint Federal Administrators to clean up the corruption once and for all.
