Donut story: I live about 60 mi north of Houston. When hurricane Ike came in, all power was out (for 5 days) where I live in the middle of a town. No store was open anywhere in town EXCEPT that Shipley’s Donut store. They had no lights but must use gas for their stoves ‘cause they had donuts around the clock. It looked like every car for miles around found that store ‘cause their parking lot was packed every day. People were desperately trying to buy something, whatever they could find and donuts were it. Praise be to the lowly donut.
