Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- An attorney who won an award for representing Terri Schiavos husband Michael in his efforts to kill his disabled wife is now an advisor to the transition team of incoming president Barack Obama.
Thomas Perrelli, who raised over $500,000 for the pro-abortion presidential candidate and is the managing partner of a Washington law firm, Jenner & Block LLP, is helping advise Obama on putting together a Justice Department team.
However, Perrelli provided Michael Schiavo with legal advice during his response to the Congressional bill that President Bush signed allowing the Schindler fail to take their lawsuit seeking to prevent Terris euthanasia death from state to federal courts.
Perrelli led the Jenner & Block team that developed the legal briefs opposing appeals for Michael and he ultimately received the Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Pro Bono Award in October 2006 for representing Terris former husband at no cost.
On Michaels legal team, Perrelli worked with infamous pro-euthanasia attorney George Felos as well as lawyers from the Florida chapter of the ACLU.
Obamas selection of Perrelli to participate on his Justice Department transition team is no surprise given his comments on Terris painful 13-day starvation and dehydration death during the presidential campaign.
During his debate with Hillary Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary, Obama said his biggest mistake was voting with a unanimous Senate to help save Terri.
In March 2005, just weeks before Terri died, Congress approved legislation allowing her family to take its case from state courts to federal courts in an effort to stop the euthanasia from proceeding.
Terri was not on any artificial breathing apparatus and only required a feeding tube to eat and drink. Her family had filed a lawsuit against her former husband to allow them to care for her and give her proper medical and rehabilitative care.
The Senate unanimously approved a compromise bill, which the House eventually supported on a lopsided bipartisan vote and President Bush signed, to help the disabled woman.
Obama said he should have stood up against the life-saving legislation.
It wasn't something I was comfortable with, but it was not something that I stood on the floor and stopped, Obama said.
And I think that was a mistake, and I think the American people understood that that was a mistake. And as a constitutional law professor, I knew better, he added.
That wasn't the first time Obama said he regretted supporting the bill to protect the disabled woman.
During an April 2007 debate, Obama said, "I think professionally the biggest mistake that I made was when I first arrived in the Senate. There was a debate about Terri Schiavo, and a lot of us, including me, left the Senate with a bill that allowed Congress to intrude where it shouldn't have.
"And I think I should have stayed in the Senate and fought more for making sure [Terri's parents couldn't take their case to federal court to save her life]," he explained.
Since Terris death, the Schindler family has established a foundation to help disabled and elderly patients obtain proper medical care and legal and other assistance when they are denied it.

If a woman has a soul, she WILL feel guilt for killing her child.

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- While numerous studies confirm abortions cause women subsequent mental health issues, abortion advocates downplay them so abortion isn't seed in a negative light. But one doctor who counsels women after abortions says the proof is in the actual experiences of women who regret their choice...

Part of my email from Terri’s foundation:
“Did you know that right now, today, in hospitals from coast to coast “ethics boards” are seeking to remove food and water from those who are not terminally ill? Did you know that in all but ten states—without legal and medical intervention—the hospitals have been empowered to do so?”
Our hospitals are supposed to heal, but instead they kill. Sick.

America, we wont go away. Many people wish we would, and heaven knows we would rather be doing almost anything else. But we cant go away, and we wont.
Im sure youve seen us. We may have made you angry, or sad, or we may have made you turn quickly away and find something else to look at.
You may have seen us two days before Christmas outside the Planned Parenthood building. The old man with the rosary, the college kids in sweats, the sad-looking woman clutching brochures and an I Regret My Abortion sign that was us.
Maybe you felt offended that we stuck abortion in your face as you rushed out to do last-minute shopping, cheered by Christmas songs on the radio. Well, we felt offended that the clinic was open that day. We wanted to enjoy ourselves, too.
Or maybe you heard one of us at a town meeting you attended at the school or the senior center. Maybe it was a savvy young woman lawyer that you heard voice the pro-life argument. Or maybe the voice of the pro-life movement you heard was a halting, nervous voice that got a little too angry or whose words got a little too tangled. In either case, that was us, too.
We may have made you uncomfortable that day. Were sorry for that. But well be there again at the next town meeting, too. And the next. And the next.
We wont go away, and we wont stop talking about abortion. We wont stop saying, again and again, that this is wrong, and it has to stop.
America, you know more about the unborn than you ever have before. Life magazine used to sell out when they put an unborn baby on the cover. Now, weve seen National Geographics In the Womb. We have sonogram photos at the front of our baby books and we saw our children for the first time in utero through a video monitor.
America, you know more than ever that abortion hurts women. Those of us who have had an abortion know the guilt at what weve done and the anger at those who made it seem inevitable, who refused all help, except the kind that kills. Those of us who have a friend who has had an abortion know it is a topic that we must never, ever discuss. It causes too much sadness, inflicts too much pain that cant be relieved.
America, you know what abortion is, and we know you know. We wont stand by and pretend with you that nothing is happening.
And we wont go away, because we cant make abortion go away from our own consciences.

The bishops better be committed to this, because Christianity is about to be attacked in ways it hasn't seen since the days of the Roman Empire.
Thread for Salvation.
Here is the statement Cardinal Francis George of Chicago has just released, on behalf of all of Americas Catholic bishops, about abortion and the election of President-elect Barack Obama:
If the Lord does not build the house, in vain do its builders labor; if the Lord does not watch over the city, in vain does the watchman keep vigil. (Psalm 127, vs. 1)
The Bishops of the Catholic Church in the United States welcome this moment of historic transition and look forward to working with President-elect Obama and the members of the new Congress for the common good of all. Because of the Churchs history and the scope of her ministries in this country, we want to continue our work for economic justice and opportunity for all; our efforts to reform laws around immigration and the situation of the undocumented; our provision of better education and adequate health care for all, especially for women and children; our desire to safeguard religious freedom and foster peace at home and abroad. The Church is intent on doing good and will continue to cooperate gladly with the government and all others working for these goods...

January 15, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - President-elect Barack Obamas Web site, change.gov, contains a link titled, Open Government: Your Seat at the Table. Follow this link and you will find hundreds of papers submitted to the Obama-Biden Transition Project by various interest groups.
One other such paper, entitled, Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration: The First 100 Days, is endorsed by over 50 pro-choice organizations ranging from the ACLU to one called Women Thrive Worldwide. Most of the demands contained in the paper are disturbing though not surprising: a massive increase in funding to Title X (which funds Planned Parenthood), an end to abstinence-only education, assuring that anyone, anywhere can have an abortion at taxpayers expense, passing the ironically-named Freedom of Choice Act, and making sure that only pro-choice ideologues are appointed to the federal judiciary, and so on...

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new pro-life movie about a baby born alive after a failed abortion is set to premier in conjunction with the March for Life next week. The flim 22 Weeks tells the true story of a baby aborted alive in an Orlando abortion center in 2005.
A woman named Angele sued an Orlando abortion business in April 2005 for allowing a newborn child to die after she gave birth to the child.
Angele alleged the abortion facility refused to call emergency personnel and that staff at the abortion facility refused to help Angele or her baby, born on the second day of a two-day abortion procedure...

Eluana Englaro Update Not many details, but it looks like Eluana has a chance.
An Italian father's campaign to let his daughter die after 17 years in a permanent vegetative state has hit another setback.
A clinic in the northern city of Udine has dropped its plans to withdraw the feeding tubes that have kept the 38-year-old woman alive since a car crash in 1992.
The clinic decided to heed an order from the Health Ministry banning any Italian clinic from doing so.
The Italian Supreme Court ruled in November that the woman's father could have the support systems withdrawn.

I do not see how any Catholic senator or representative could vote for the passage of FOCA without recognizing that such a vote would constitute a direct and intentional declaration of their disdain for Catholic teaching. Such a vote would be tantamount to a public declaration of their intention to abandon the Catholic faith. It would be imperative that the faith consequences of such a declaration be allowed to fall fully on the heads of those who would make it...

Chuck Colson nails the culture of death in this one.
Thread by me.
Those who have embraced the culture of death had much to celebrate during 2008. By culture of death, Im referring to those movements which would advance euthanasia, assisted suicide, abortion, fetal experimentation, and even population control.
Lets take a quick look at the year gone by. I think youll see what I mean.
In the U.S., voters in Washington state approved the grotesquely named Death with Dignity Act, which will allow physicians to prescribe lethal doses of drugs to their terminally ill patients. Washington joins Oregon as the only states (for now) that have legalized assisted suicide. Two down, 48 to go.
Of course there was other significant news in the other Washington, Washington, DC, where the new administration began to set up shop in the White Housean administration that promised during the campaign to enact the Freedom of Choice Act, or FOCA...

This is a great piece by Mark Earley.
Thread by me.
As Chuck Colson shared yesterday on BreakPoint, these are troubling times for human dignity and the pro-life movement. President-elect Obama has promised to pass the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate every common-sense restriction passed on abortion at the state level and federal level in the past 20 years. The new administration is also encouraging embryonic stem cell research. And nowadays, 90 percent of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome prior to birth are aborted.
In times when many evangelicals are tempted to retreat from the front lines of the battle for human dignity, we need some modern-day heroes for lifepeople whose bold and countercultural stand for life can serve as inspiring role models.
So as the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade ominously approaches, I want to recognize a few people who have chosen to put life firstway outside the boundaries of what most of us would call our comfort zones...

Oakland, CA (LifeNews.com) -- A California pro-life advocate has been found guilty of violating what pro-life attorneys call an unconstitutional city law that is used specifically to prevent providing information to women outside abortion centers. Oakland officials had enacted the law that appeared to be directed at Walter Hoye, a black pastor.
