If a deputy came to your house, and you refused to turn over your weapon, if he didn't kill you, he would call a SWAT team. If they didn't kill you (unlikely), they would turn it over to the next level of defense (federal probably), who would bump it up and up until you had the tanks, etc. in your front yard.
Could you shoot a deputy (possibly a friend or neighbor) who came to take your gun? I couldn't. Same thing all the way up the ladder. We would be shooting at friends and neighbors, and the federal government has far more fire power than we do.

When my “friends and neighbors” become part of a tyranical government they are no longer...well...friends, at least.

I see it happening in several different ways:
1. They come to a person’s house to take away their weapons after they’ve passed a law against gun ownership. Person refused to turn over weapons, if they leave the person would expect them to come back with backup forces. Person now packs up and leaves, or stay and fight. People resisting in this manner would start making the news. More would start resisting.
2. They order people to re-education camps. People refuse knowing that those that fail or cause trouble at the camps will be taken somewhere and executed. So people would refuse to go and decide to make a stand when the Gestopo came for them. Or they would leave and live off the land until the time arrives to make a stand.
3. Some event triggers a large protest to happen by patriots and government forces fire into the unarmed crowds. If the government forces refuse to fire into the protesters the government would collapse and we’d set up a constitutional government. In the event troops fired on the crowds, the next protests would be attended by armed patriots. At this stage we have a revolution on our hands.
4. Patriots start moving into areas of the country where there are large groups of conservatives. At some point the group of states seceed from the union and create a new constituional republic using our same US Constitution.
Just a note, if the left can ignore the US Constitutution can’t patriots also ignore it and refuse to pay taxes because we think it is outdated and old and silly?
Having read your about page, first let me thank your family for their years of service in dealing with Florida’s lawless population of two legged predators.
However, as one whose religious history covers thousands of years of oppression, I feel safe in noting that IF America ever sends people to take the guns from Americans, then that administration means to do terrible things to those it disarms.
The following is from Winston Churchill, and bears remembering:
“If you will not fight when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

Obama may well be all his detractor say, but he does not want to destroy the Democratic party, and every two years, there is another election.
Gun grabbing is a political ‘third rail’.
May it always be so.
