Actually I spent a bit of time at Camp Greyling, Michigan and it was mighty nice country with good folks living there.
Check out my Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee between Chattanooga and Nashville if you get the chance to move anywhere. If you want to be close to the beach, check out the Florida panhandle or the Space Coast (Cocoa Beach and areas north and south of it).
Very ironic that you mention your location. I have driven between Nashville and Chattanooga several times. That is my dream area! Just beautiful, and the people are nice and genuine.
