Bill Clinton mentioned for wife's Senate seat

After eight years as senator from New York, Hillary Clinton is trading places, moving from Congress to the incoming administration.

Former President Bill Clinton has been mentioned as a possible replacement for his wife in the Senate.

On Monday, President-elect Barack Obama announced that he asked his former rival to be his secretary of state.

That means the scramble begins to replace Clinton on Capitol Hill. Among those mentioned to take her seat as New York's junior senator is her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

At a news conference in Chicago, Illinois, on Monday, after Obama announced her selection, Clinton said she wanted to "thank my fellow New Yorkers who have, for eight years, given me the joy of a job I love with the opportunity to work on issues I care deeply, in a state that I cherish."

Clinton added that "leaving the Senate is very difficult for me."

The task of choosing a successor falls to David Paterson, New York's Democratic governor. Whomever he picks would serve for two years, before a special election in November 2010 to decide who fills the last two years of Clinton's term.

Caroline wants to be ambassador to the Court of St. James.

Teddy wants her in the Senate. Guess who will win that battle?

“He doesn’t want to be tied down to a real job......
Too many other things to pursue.....”

So you’re saying he’ll take the Senate seat ?

Maybe he will bring those jobs to Upstate New York that Hillary talked about 8 years ago. I regret saying my home state deserves the Clintons. And Cuomos. And Kennedys.

Hillary Rodman Clinton and the Clinton Machine minions have successfully infiltrated Obama’s “presidency.”

The people behind the curtain are pulling the strings in plain sight.

The game is on.

The Dixie Mafia vs the Daley Political Machine thugs.

Better than a cat fight...

i’m so tired of nepotism in public offices.

I'm tired of the Kennedys, the Clintons, the Bushes, the Cuomos, the Landrieus, the Fords, etc., ad nauseum.

I want Obama to seriously name many Massachusetts leftists to his cabinet, because it’s the only way of seriously getting rid of such clowns from within Massachusetts!

NY might have 2 Clintons who will just use that seat to stand on an further their goals. Hilda beast hasn’t done dick since arriving in NY other than run for office. Not 1 accomplishment , nothing, arrives in any upstate town, just prior to the cameras (and chuck u schumer) vomits some BS and flys to another event.

But I am so glad the Bitch is gone.

I’m sayin’ he’s not happy with Hill taking the S of S job...

Too much visability. He won’t be able to do what he wants, anymore....

Yeah, and Minnesota deserves Jesse Ventura, Keith Ellison and just very possibly.....Al Franken.

I thought that perhaps the one good thing about Obama’s primary victory was that we were finally going to be rid of the clintons

Bill Bennett said the same thing to Lucianne Goldberg on his show one morning a few months back. She laughed at him, as if to say "you poor, naive child".

These people never go away.

I think the reference was to the Fords of Memphis (Harold Ford, Jr., and kin), not to Gerald Ford (who was a Ford by adoption--his birth name was King). I don't think any of President Ford's family have held office.

The Tafts are another family that keeps popping up. The newly-elected Democrat Senator from Alaska (Begich) is the son of a Congressman (who died in the plane crash with Hale Boggs in 1972).

Being in the United States Senate is hardly "a real job".

Ask John Effin' Kerry...

Nothing in his plea deal prevents the disgraced ex president from doing this?

Clinton's plea bargain prevents him from practicing law before the Supreme Court.

But it doesn't prevent from serving as a Justice on the Supreme Court.
