For full size protective duty 1911 style .45 ACP is my all time favorite . That said I am still am advocate of double action revolvers for most users and especially people with smaller hands . A .22 can serve as protection as well as a plinker , the very best gun , is the one you have with you . Training and practice is a must .

Where would I look for local training? NRA? I tried to local range but they were not open to it. The local gun shop does not train.
