Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.
The first shooting took place near the CST police station

7:30? there now,,,should get more info soon...
this big an operation has almost got to leave an identifiable logistics tail, as mentioned by you guys up thread, particularly if some came by sea, as the reports indicate.
someone’s going to get implicated . . . and God help us if it’s a nation-state (namely one the begins with a “P”)
you know what . . . if this had happened 4 weeks ago, we would be calling McCain “President-elect”
Just heard on TV that it is daylight there now, and numerous shots have been heard inside the hotel.
I hope they are not killing hostages.

More like Indonesian...and yes, very young.
The Indians have been fighting it for a long time.
They are saying the terrorists have spread out throughout the Taj.At least 100 civilians are still trapped inside.
I have no special expertise, but I assume most of the organized terrorist groups have at least informal links to each other.
And there’s every reason to believe that many of them also have sympathizers within Pakistan’s ISI.
That’s still far short of saying that this attack was approved by the Pakistani government. They haven’t even conquered their own freaking country, much less made sure that their intelligence agency has no rogues.
All I’m suggesting is that today’s attacks would serve no purpose in general Pakistani foreign policy. Especially the part about primarily targeting westerners in India.
Let’s wait to see who is behind it. I’ve seen reports that 10 terrorists have been captured. Those guys are in separate rooms and not being fed caviar. I doubt the Indians are in any kind of a mood to show much mercy at this point.
We’ll know before long.
They look like they are in their late teens.
AQ stepped on it when they hosed down the media. Yet another stupid mistake from the Masterminds of Terror.
Officials are still probably in containment mode now, could be a while before they settle enough to hold press conferences.
Indians look to be no-knocking the second hotel now or soon. If it burns too, we know the Taj fire was part of the AQ plan and can expect western casualties on the fire floors.
The initial opress conferences after this settles will be interesting.
“Just the facts, ma’am” implies much ado behind the scenes.
Outrage and vitriol implies the Indians will wait for global consensus and/or an alliance to form.
Bush really does have “weapons free” here. IF he chooses to capitalize on it.
Literally, even a dinner jacket link isn’t out of the question.
Wag the dog applies.
So far ZA’s been good to me.

The timing is no accident. AQ was politically astute enough to swing the Spanish election, and also to avoid forcing Bush over Kerry in 04.
This is happening on AQ’s schedule, make no mistake.
I’ve been away from computer and tv for several hours- trying to catch up now.
Thanks for pings and info.
“...I’d give damned near anything to see a total cut off of all trade with those monsters and permit them to sink into financial and societal ruin.”
We tried that with Japan and got Pearl Harbor. We need to inspire what few real allies we have left and meet these barbarians head on ala the way Rome did, w/o mercy.
YW, thx back at you for the original ping.
I was out all day helping install a stand-by gennie, two very short nights in a row.
Dunno how long I can stay with this, busy day tomorrow too.
