NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - After 12 years at Fox News Channel and four decades in the news business, Washington managing editor Brit Hume will leave "Special Report" and daily journalism for a quieter life, spending time with his grandchildren and following his Christian faith (the anchor still will contribute to the network as a political analyst).
Hume, 65, talked about the demands of the job and how his succession should be handled.

IMHO, the biggest shift was O'Reilly. Seems like he turned left on social issues after that sexual harassment lawsuit. I only occasionally watch H&C, but apparently Sean was a big Rudy supporter.
Brit Hume stayed the course, and he will be missed.

With the incoming administration, I think it's entirely reasonable to expect an uptick in government sanctioned anti-Christian bigotry. Once again, atheists and agnostics voted overwhelmingly for the Rats, and they will demand tribute from 0.
I'd love to see Brit Hume take on some kind of media role fighting this. Maybe he could do a weekly (monthly?) TV (or radio) program exposing the secular left's agenda. Kind of an expanded Grapevine segment focusing on the anti-Christian government-media complex? I'd be a charter viewer. :)
Thankyou for your kind comments. God Bless You, Sir.
Brit was talking to Bill O'Reilly a week or two ago. He mentioned that TONIGHT'S broadcast (Tuesday, December 23, 2008) would be his last broadcast as anchor of "Special Report with Brit Hume". I wonder who will take over that anchor spot from now on...
I'm heartbroken... I'm really gonna miss Brit! Hope he returns often to the Fox News Channel.
If I heard correctly, Brit's replacement will be Bret Baier. After a vacation, Brit will return to FNC in a new role.
What does that mean that he’s leaving for his Christian faith?
