Obama's children: Off to private school at a cost of $29,000 each

Barack and Michelle Obama's children will attend Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., it was confirmed Saturday. It's a private school that charges (gulp) $29,000 a year in tuition.
And that doesn't cover the cost of textbooks or other services from the school. You can see the eye-popping numbers at the school's Web site.
In KC, that's double what the most expensive private schools -- Rockhurst, St. Theresa's, Barstow, Pembroke Day -- charge.

Continuity, I suppose. She helped with the kids in Chicago. Frankly, I applaud that. If only more grandmothers were willing to help out (when possible), instead of putting kids in daycare. Apparently, the Obamas believe the kids should be with "family" as much as possible, so when MO is busy doing first lady stuff, grandma will be there for the kids after school.
Personally, i think it's wonderful, and anybody who objects to that is simply nitpicking. Good grief! There's enough to fault the Obamas about without getting picky over having Grandma in the picture.
When the Kennedys were in the White House, Mrs. Kennedy had a small preschool of kids (I think about six) join Caroline so she wouldn't be so lonely.
No one is arguing that Obama should send his kids to the lousy DC public schools!!!!!

Dang right it is my business as a taxpayor that the creep makes me pay for public education through my taxes and will not Allow Choice!
I think there ought to be a Freep at the Sidwell school with signs saying “Why can’t ALL DC kids be able to choose?”
And this public education mess and the educ unions IS A VERY BIG DEAL cause its idiots that don’t understand american economics or politics voted someone like this jerk in!
He can deduct the tuition as an un-reimbursed business expense.
It is our business, because he viciously opposes anything that makes it possible for most working people to send their kids to private school.
He also poses as being a common man, against wealthy elitists.
So if he’s such a supporter of the public schools, and such a commoner, i don’t see whats wrong with him being exposed as a fraudulent hypocritical ass. Jimmy Carter sent his kid to public school.
Its sorta like Diane Fienstein and Rosie O’Donnel wanting my guns taken away,, then we find out they enjoy the protection of a gun.
This country isnt based on class warfare,,, but it wasnt based on an elite class living by the ethos of “for thee, but not for me”. Especially the ones like Obama who use every tool at their disposal to stop any development of the private and home school movement.

He however, based his whole campaign on stealing from the rich,,, egalitarianism over kleptocracy,,, and crushing any reasonable option for most parents to send kids to private school. He’s acting like the king of some African post-colonial republic already.

I thought that way as well for a time. Then I realized that the presence of POTUS daugthers would probably make the public school SAFER for all students. This would far outweigh any disruption. Bottom line.....President Elect Obama sought out the vote of inner city ghetto dwellers...but he won’t let his children be associated with them. That is supreme hypocrisy.
I agree that he should do what is best for his children, but it doesn’t jive with his rhetoric.
And i mean,,, he IS a community organizer, with extensive education reforming experience. Is it really too much to ask that he just fix the DC schools and make them the showcase of the nation?? Serious question.
Obamas move would be like President Romney doing all his banking in Switzerland because american banks are shakey. Maybe a smart move, but a bad example, and pure hypocracy when finance is supposed to be his strong suit.
His right,, but we would expect more.
