New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman let his power lust just flow throughout the studio of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central on Thursday night. Promoting his book Hot, Flat, and Crowded, Friedman discussed his concept of America becoming "China for a day," so that his dream of a green revolution -- all those allegedly planet-saving taxes and regulations and product bans -- can be permanently enacted.
When Colbert lived up to his conservative character enough to insert that China has a totalitarian regime, Friedman simply replied "It is a measure of the frustration a lot of people in the green movement have certainly me," that our democratic system (stuffed with troublesome believers in freedom of enterprise) blocks the passage of a eco-leftist agenda.

Thomas Friedman is so stupid. He’s like one of the many liberal pseudo-intellectuals that make terrible arguments and have them popularized by books. “Green” technology is 10 times more inefficient than oil and coal. And its especially more inefficient than nuclear. The net effect of any green industry will be to kill productivity gains in the overall economy to create an industry dependent on Democratic largesse.
Sound familiar? *cough* (Fannie Mae Freddie Mac) *cough*
COLBERT: Thank you so much for joining us. Don Pardo, what parting gifts do we have for our contestant?
How about “Friedman in a Chinese gulag for a day”?
How can ANYONE believe this carbon sh*t anymore? As the AGW science collapses, the politics gets worse and worse.
What a total idiot.
It is free-enterprise and democracy that protects the environment. China (and Russia) are environmental disasters, thanks to central planning.
What Friedman is really saying is "let me be the dictator...just for a day...no, really, I wouldn't have all of my opponents put up against a wall that day, I promise."
This pretty much sums up Thomas Friedman:
Flathead
The peculiar genius of Thomas L. Friedman.

an excerpt from the review:
“Friedman is a person who not only speaks in malapropisms, he also hears malapropisms. Told level; heard flat. This is the intellectual version of Far Out Space Nuts, when NASA repairman Bob Denver sets a whole sitcom in motion by pressing “launch” instead of “lunch” in a space capsule. And once he hits that button, the rocket takes off.”
Apparently, Totalitarianism is okay when its for what the Left wants. Same with blacklisting, suppression of free speech, and use of hate speech.
Gee, maybe he can write about stuff like this...
China? The China that was exempted from Kyoto? The China that is leveling a mountain to improve the smog condition in one of their cities? The China that, per Joe Biden, uses more dirty coal plants than we do? The China that is damming a river and driving out millions of local peasants who live near it? That China?
