Mitt Romney Takes on Detroit

By Garance Franke-Ruta

The race for 2012 is already on in the Republican Party, and today failed 2008 contender Mitt Romney appeared to take a stand sure to complicate any future presidential bid. In an op-ed bluntly titled, "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt," the former Massachusetts governor argued against the automobile salaries and pension systems that have for decades helped define the good life in industrial Michigan, where Romney won the GOP primary this winter and where his father was once governor.

Those in the military are walking the walk far more than most others.

And by choice. They are VOLUNTEERING.

Looks like you have been given a direct demonstration of Occam’s razor.

The simple explanation was given to you by our site host, we are conservatives and Romney isn't. It is very much in large part not about stupid posts or lies, but stated fact.

You and a few others tried to pitch him here for a couple of various reasons, but simply being good looking, running the Olympics or being a religious peer does not change the man's politics for the rest of us. Indeed it should not be an excuse to ignore them either.

Military service is a HUGE plus for Republican candidates.

I truly wish our military could elect the Commander in Chief ~ those who are putting their lives on the line.

They are fighting for US.

This thinking is ahort sighted one of our greatest presidents Ronald Reagan had no military record, period

Resty I know you are often factually challenged but at least make an effort some time.

Though never in a combat position, Reagan served in various roles in the Army from 1937 until separated from service with the rank of Captain in 1945.

Try some research every once in awhile.

Yes...

The deferments were handed out like candy to whichever mormon guy wanted one...

Mitt Romnbey got 2 deferments...

He sat out the war in a cushy post in Paris...

Expensive digs in a mansion, fancy cars to drive etc...

Real suffering for “his” country...

When did Palin praise Hillary? Link please.

She didnt...

In her first speech...

She just had the audacity to comment on the fact that Hillary had gotten further in politics than any woman had before...

And acknowledged Hillary’s great accomplishment...

Which was a great accomplishment...

The RomneyBots like to forget Romnbey’s 1994 debate with Teddy K...

Romney kept mumbling about his support for women “breaking the glass ceiling”

However when both Senator Hillary Clinton and Governor Sarah Palin did what had not been done by women before...

(Other than Geraldine Ferrara 1984)

And almost broke the ultimate glass ceiling in America n politics..

The RomneyBots screamed ...HORRORS...

It’s a sexist thing...

Nothing less...

Ronald Reagan

His growing success also won him a series of deferments from military service (at the request of Warner Brothers) once the United States entered World War II, and then—after he was called up and commissioned an officer in the cavalry—an assignment with an army film unit.

Much of the time, he lived at home with his family. Despite his later claims to the contrary, he never left the country and never saw combat.

But he cooperated with studio public relations efforts to portray him as a soldier, who, like other soldiers, left his family to go "off to war." Feature stories described Wyman bravely carrying on, raising the children and maintaining the household while her man was away. Newsreels and magazine photos depicted Reagan "coming home" for leaves and visits.

Reagan later sometimes seemed actually to have believed the ruse. Even decades later, he liked to talk about "coming back from the war," like other veterans, eager to take up family life again (a life that in his case had hardly been interrupted).

Do you have reason(s) for detesting Gov Palin which you aren't disclosing? For those you cite here are illogical.

The RomneyBOT have such devotion to their Master
that no matter whose children they stab, no matter
which election they ruin, they are America’s new
“Benedict Arnolds” en masse. Their name is “Legion”.

Nice try resty. He still served and was a commissioned officer and did an important job for morale and dissemination of information. He also served 4 years leading up to the war at enlisted ranks. You said no military record what so ever and that is a misrepresentation at best and really given your status as a Mitt supporter it is really an outright lie. Par for the course./p>

This bending and twisting of Reagan's record by you Mittwitts in an effort to bolsters Mitt's less than stellar conservative creds has surpassed tiresome and is headed towards loathsome and pathetic.
